Did 140km with the girlfriend yesterday. So hot (~40C), so humid (~40+%), no shade (and absolutely blazing sun all day)... we both came close to genuine heat exhaustion I think. The last 20 km or so were just painfully slow (and just generally painful). We ended up stopping one last time all of 3 km from our guesthouse (and we knew as much) just to duck into the A/C and get some cold water.
Worth it for the view though - Amanohashidate, one of "Japan's Three Most Beautiful Views".

To get the view properly, you're supposed to get up high and view it through your legs with your back turned, making the sandbar the 'bridge to Heaven'. Weird; doubly so if you're foreigners wearing cycling kit.
