  • Great days racing. Fantastic event, well done to all the riders tough in that heat ....thanks for organising such a top day out Scrippo.

  • Really enjoyed the Madison events, it was the first time I'd seen them live and the changeovers and tactics were so impressive.

This is what we really want to hear! Glad you liked it

  • i had a great day that put a very much needed smile on my face

  • had a great time today ! and watching the last madison was amazing =)

  • Great afternoon, thanks

  • I took a few photos: http://www.flickr.com/photos/blatez/sets/72157631489317786/

thanks for a great day out!

  • Support Race:

    5th in the scratch
    Burnt
    Got burnt in the points
Bottom bracket loose again. Must stop being mean and shell out for a new one
Seized bearings in the rear wheel
Eliminated far too early in the Devil. Still trying to figure out how?
    Punctured tub in front wheel
    6th in the 10km
No points on license because the support race was not banded.

So a sort of good day, bad day.

Anybody else have a better / worse experience yesterday?

  • ^ definitely worse than yours in terms of racing experience but thoroughly enjoyed the day

foolishly decided to support the women's races after 6 weeks off the bike with a broken collar bone then 2 weeks to try to get some fitness back
failed to get into the pack at all in the 10 lap scratch as was dozing at the start line, and first time racing with the 'big girls' meant their cruising pace came as quite a shock
should have probably managed to stay in for one more round in the devils as was well-positioned and felt like I still had some legs
learned not to get caught out at the start again in the points race but it was another solo effort after the pack spat me out the back 3 laps in

all in all a good if sharp learning experience, but then I had nothing to lose ~

  • That was a fantastic event, definitely the hardest racing I have done all year. Apparently the senior madison riders had over 70km of racing, no wonder my legs hurt this morning.

We went into the last race in 3rd overall after getting 4th in the madison devil and 2nd in the 200m time trial but dropped down to 6th as we failed to score any points in the final madison, though we didn't lose any laps. Not a bad day for us considering I've been sprint training all season and my partner has only been racing for a year with no madison experience. Hopefully we can make the podium next time with a little more practice.

Thanks to Scrippo and everyone else involved, it was a fantastic day, I'm sure Dave would have been very proud.

  • @sugoi love your pictures. seeing the riders in the derny race reminded me of my motor paced training sessions with dave creasy on thursdays afternoons......... back in the good old days. he was such a good person and lived for cycle racing and getting the best out of us. and don't say he was the coach ,,,,, he didnt like it!

    "i'm not a coach, a coach has got wheels, i'm a trainer"

    rip mr creasy

  • don't say he was the coach ,,,,, he didnt like it!

    "i'm not a coach, a coach has got wheels, i'm a trainer"

True. He was an ABCC senior trainer. Different days. #oldschool

  • I could not go , but was at the Keirin the fortnight before

Well done to HH for organising this. This is how cycle sport should be promoted , some thing that's inclusive and entertaining.

I suspect your average 25 mile TT might strugle here but too often in the past cycle racing has been secret sport that did not really want spectators.

We don't need to wear black alpaca any more!

  • Thanks guys. Track cycling is a very photogenic sport, especially on nice sunny days! Glad you like them.

  • Some more pics and some writings below. Nothing too profound, basically WOW, ITS AMAZING..
