Campagnolo Eurus bearings and spares?

Posted on
  • I've just got a set of Eurus wheels (for an incredible price) which are in great condition aside from a little work. The rear bearings need replacing, and I've done a little research, but I'm not sure if they need ceramic, or steel? I know the newer wheels use ceramic, but I can't find any info about the particular set I have.

If they do need ceramic bearings are these any good? I know I need 60 for the front and rear, but they seem reasonable in price and are apparently the same specification as the Campy ones. Although I could be wrong on this.

And how hard is it to change the bearing, keeping in mind that I've never done it before? Should I even attempt, or should I take the wheels to somebody who knows what they're doing? Any recommendations, or anybody on here who can advise?

Lastly, I'm trying to source the dust caps for wheels. One on the front has been repaired, and the other isn't in great shape. The rear is completely missing. Any ideas where I could get some from, or is it just something that can't be sourced? I've tried the internet with no joy at all.

Photos below of the missing cap on the rear, and the front ones.

  • see campag spokes thread on next page, has links to three spares suppliers, they do everything not just spokes

  • Excellent thanks for that. Although, I think I've sourced the bits from Condor.

Still need to sort the bearing, I think I'll just take them to a shop.

  • They don't need ceramic unless you want to upgrade as the hubs are the same as those used on Bora Ultra 2 (less the carbon body). Bearings can easily be replaced but best done by LBS.

  • Thanks for the response. I'll get them done at an LBS, any idea of what it should cost? I phoned around a few, but got £20 difference in prices.
