Serious question - where do I find out more info about this.
Very interested.
Can't you just stick to riding Gwaihir Windlord?

Well, shit. the sensor cleaning kit arrived and I've basically made it worse. FUUUUUU
First time it usually gets worse before it gets better. Did you spread the dust around and then move it all to the edges while adding some streaks of cleaning fluid?

Cheers Indra, great info. Gonna pm you manana if that's ok (late where I am now).
Schickmeister, if you want beak in every shot then Gwaihir's the beast of choice, for photographing high power microwave dishes think its safer for everyone if I try uav of some kind, wouldn't want all his feathers falling out down the line...
If anyone else has any info I'm after suff on controllability, dependability, survivability (ie wind strength and rain proof rather than crashes), learnability (important!) and camera controllability from the remote, etc.
Don't want you clog up the thread with boring crap but if there re any good resources would be awesome o be pointed the right way!

Right, I'm done with DSLRs. If any-one wants a 6D with a freshly cleaned sensor, hit me up.

Lomo from now on?

Pfft. Point and shoot, whatever. I'm thinking something dinky like an rx100.
The 6d is great, don't get me wrong, the iso performance is unbelievable but going through my Lightroom library, I rarely go beyond iso800 and for most of the stuff, a good compact would be just as useful.

or you could just do this

X100s?

Ideally, yes. Once I've got the sensor cleaned professionally, I'll put it up on classifieds for a week before eBay.

Play around with the X-Pro 1 first, I highly recommended the X100(s) as it's a brilliant camera, but it's possible the X-Pro 1 might fit your requirement just as well (interchangable lens).
The only limiting factor of the X100s I find is the wide angle lens, it's perfect, just a little too wide for my liking (I prefer 38-40mm).

Just order a 95mbps 32GB card, hopefully a noticeable difference compare to the 45mbps one.

Or the X-E1. Same sensor, less monies.

And the viewfinder is electronic only as well - drain battery more (theoretically).

I've got the Xpro-1 and I wouldn't change it for the any other camera. the only reason i say the X100s is the size. and the fact that i almost exclusively use the 35mm 1.4 lens, therefore making interchangeable lenses a little redundant.
but as you say Ed, the X100s has got quite a wide lens and I too prefer some a little closer. I had forgotten about that and it was the reason i didn't buy the x100 in the first place!
I'm thinking of (saving up and) getting the 27mm pancake. i'd rather it was 23mm but i really like the idea of an extremely compact lens! -

or even the X-M1, if you don't care about having a viewfinder at all.

-
• #4243
Yep, 35mm = 50mm focal length is what he's talking about.
-
• #4244
yes quite right. I've got a few other lenses i play around with a little; a leitz elmar 90mm and some funny old russian 50mm thing. but really the 35mm fuji lens is on there 98% of the time.
I heard a rumor fuji are going to update the firmware for the x100 and give it alot of the features the x100s has, if they do it'll make it a very bargainous

• #4245
That would be brilliant, have no idea what I'm missing from the X100s thought.
nev, nice shout, that X-M1 with pancake lens might actually be a decent Sony RX100 replacement.
-
• #4246
Yes, i'd like to do that too. really compact, really high quality!
i want to try the 27mm on my xpro1 but can't seem to find the time at the mo.

• #4247
also Ed, you may have come across this guy before but if you haven't i think you'll like his stuff.

Is the eos m worth the money?
It really ticks most of the boxes for me I need an upgrade from the OLD 400d (still uses a compactflash card!)
Also need it to be a little bit smaller and with the adaptor I can use all the same lenses.
Shoots good video which is also a massive bonus for me.
Anyone on here have first hand experience?

^^ That guy is one of my all time faves. Brilliant stuff.

I know the MF time is supposed to be really shit but that doesn't put me off too much.
To be fair I could have been a bit harsh, they're good if you're looking at it fro a gadget point of view, easy to use, pretty tough and easy to find.
From a hobbyists point of view you just don't get much for your money, a toy grade flying machine with a camera attached to it, it can't really be upgraded much and is expensive, with only a little knowhow and practise you could have a better filming rig for less money that's easier to work on and upgrade(Battery life, speed, strength and even things like lights if they float your boat.
With a hobby grade machine there are extra ports to add other servos that you could use for more advanced things such as controlling where the camera is pointing independent of the aircraft if you had a suitable mount.
Done, I'll shut up when I'm really boring people or I have better things to do.
