• What would you expect to pay for an Eriksen frame?

You'd think his website didn't list the price: http://kenteriksen.com/bikes/road/

  • So by the time the frame has made it over here, £3,400?

  • Quite likely.

  • go to Bespoke Cycles in Farringdon area.. very helpful staff there..

  • Gaah! Total n+1-ness on this thread...

    Phwoaarr!!

  • so many better eriksens out there. saddle level with bars, such a waste

  • saddle level with bars, such a waste

Like all the Serottas you see in London...

  • Oooff. What's sick burn en francais?

True to stereotype, I bought a Ti frame for my 40th and haven't regretted it for a moment. I wholeheartedly recommend it.

Yeah, at a quick glance through the gallery I was drawn to this by components/colour aesthetics. They're all custom, so basically this with better geometry, please. (About 2.5" saddle to bar drop suits me for long rides.) :)

  • I love a good midlife crisis.
    Vous avez une ponytail encore?

  • It's his secretary whom I feel sorry for

  • on a slightly off topic point and a thread hijack, I wanted to order some bib shorts from the moots online store, and the postage is $42 whatever you order. does anyone want anything from there and fancy going in together to reduce the overall postage?

  • Thanks for all the advice! Looks like I'm gonna go for a Moots.. Getting a bike fit at bespoke later today...

  • This has made me really, really want a Moots....

  • My only doubts are related to the groupset. I know fuckall about this in all honesty. I've gone for an Ultegra 11spd option. £1k. Any reasons not to?

  • No reason not to.

You don't have to take the whole groupset as one package... you can cherry pick.

For example: You could go for the Dura-Ace shifters (I think they're more comfy), but choose almost everything else as Ultegra.

Or you could opt for the Dura-Ace crankset and the shifters, go Ultegra on everything else.

It's fairly common for people to trick out the big ticket parts of the groupset (cranks being the most notable), and then to cut corners on the consumable parts (cassette, chain) and the parts that others may not notice (rear der).

The differences between the best and the one just below aren't that great, and none of us are professional riders likely to notice.

Invest in the frame and fork, everything else can be re-considered later.

If you have the cash, invest in the big ticket parts of the group, replace the cheap bits later if you ever feel the need.

  • High end wheels over high end groupset every time.

I agree about Cassette and Chain, but I think everyone notices the rear derailleur. To me the most 'invisible' components after the aforementioned are the front mech and brake calipers.

  • I agree with Mr Tiles here, especially if you are going for an electronic group.

That you can now mix and match Ultegra and Dura Ace Di2 makes this more compelling.

  • not sure at all about the moots bikes website, I think they look rather uninspiring

  • you blind?

simple, elegant custom fitted and build bikes. what is not to like?

  • dunno just like North Korea it lacks Seoul! boom boom

  • And it looks more Halfords than Harrods

  • They're lovely bikes, but I'm certainly not a fan of 'you must own a Moots to wear this jersey'. How to kill the appeal of a jersey stone-dead.

Totally agree Frameset aside wheelset including tubs/tubes and tires is where you'll notice the greatest difference.
