• Hi varno, everybody,

I was interested in ordering a pair of the Miche v-sprint wheels (on the Mach1 rims), but had a few questions.

    • What type of Miche hubs are used at v-sprint? (Primato? Xpress?) Does anybody have a close up picture of the hubs? Do they have the decals/markings on them?
    • Does the wheelset come with cog, lockring, nuts, and rim tape? Can I choose the number of cog teeth?
    • On the website, it's specified that : "if you wish or go "hard core" with double fixed" How do I specify an order (e.g. that I'd prefer a fixed/fixed hub, and not fixed/free).
    • Also specified on website: Double section aluminium alloy - 700c x 18c - 23c. Is this a firm limit? Or has anybody had luck putting 25 - 28c tyre's on them?

    Cheers.

  • Can answer a few..

Miche Primato, and they have stickers on them but you can take them off easily, I did.

Comes with cog, lockring, nuts but not rim tape. I got a 16t cog.

    I run 28c tyres and they're fine.

  • Also I've been using them every day for 9 months now, including through the snow and salted roads, horrendous amount of rain, and whatnot. They're still running great, perfectly true and bearings great.

  • Awesome thanks.

What stickers do you mean? The primato stickers or are there extra v-sprint ones?

Is it easy to apply rim tape?... I've never done it before. i'll look up something on youtube anyway.

  • Just the primato stickers on the hubs, and mach1 ones on the rims, no extra v-sprint ones on mine.

Yep rim tape is super easy, no different from if you were putting sellotape around the rim.

The only thing I need to confirm now is that it comes in fixed/fixed, and how to specify it in the order, then I'll place an order.

Looks like a sweet set of wheels..

  • My most recent set of Primato hubs from Jim are fixed/free.

  • This is great....everyone answering questions on my behalf...Thanks chaps..I did actually think about doing a FAQ..

Dan did you see the price drop on carbon?

I was after a silver one...

What's the wait time on a fixed/fixed silver if I order it now? And how do I specify that's my preference? (Can I do it via email to you?)

Happy to wait for silver (depending on approximate wait time).

And thanks again to everybody for your answers :)

I sure did mate. I'm afraid I'll have to miss out for now. Just in the middle of moving house and not sure if I've got the spare money at the moment. Bad timing... If I change my mind and you still have some I'll drop you a line.

  • All good mate...

  • Just ordered a pair of silver miche hubs to silver mach1 rims.

Can't wait to get it and ride it. :)

  • OK mate on the case with this weeks orders.....Jim.

  • Hey Varno,

Can one pick up a wheelset? Do you have anything already built for a quick sale?

  • Hi Varno interested in your wheels, can it come with a red hub? or different coloured spokes?

    What does the 'Machined' mean?

Also is 40mm the deepest rim you do, and what is the difference between the 40mm and the Mach1 21mm?

    Cheers

  • Hubs come black and silver.
    Spokes as above.
Machine means they have a machined brake surface to enable brake pads to engage.
40mm rim is unmachined, Mach1 is a lighter version and machined.

    Jim.

  • Machined means it has a braking surface. Something for your brakes to 'clasp'. normally the silver line round the edge of a rim. Non machined are painted the same colour.

  • Thanks, would that mean that braking would not be as effective as a machined surface?

  • More effective on a machined surface.

  • I'm about to purchase some rim tape to put on the Mach1 rims.

What size Velox cloth tape should I get? (Options are 13, 16, 19, 22).

    Cheers!

  • No mate....sorry.

  • Are you trying to waste everyone's time?

  • Looking for a 28/32 spoke solution about 1400-1500grms

Varno builds some great value wheels but I doubt you'll find wheels of this weight for that price in the UK.

  • What weight are these wheels approx?

Also in the OP it says "hand built", why the ""?
