I want to be able to text stuff like 'where's my fucking bottles?' - it's very hard to hear audio when I'm riding.
ahh. in that case some of the android smart watches have pre-defined sms-send functionality and touchscreens so you could hide your phone in your skinsuit and have the watch mounted like a cycle computer if that's allowed within the rules.
or even use tasker to do the sending

Right... Anyone know an app that can do this?
I've got an S4, haven't figured it out on the stock camera app. I figured maybe there's something out there that would allow me to do this.
The idea is I can mount my phone on the handlebars and video without having to fiddle too much with the mounting.

You can turn off auto-rotate in Settings. Try that.

Hoping to acquire an N7 2013 in the US. Not sure whether to go with the 16gb or 32gb. I doubt I'll fill it, my N4 32gb has about 10gb free after several months use, with some Google music cached on it.
I am, however, thinking about using spotify again. Caching music is an attractive idea, but I doubt it'll be that useful on the tablet as it'll be used on wireless or tethered (and I intend to switch to an all you can eat data plan).
Looking at the exchange rates etc, I think I'll end up paying £180ish for a 32gb, or £150ish for the 16gb.
Still can't really decide though.
I grabbed the 32Gb... it was a minor difference. Doubt I'll use it but whatever. The N7 2013 is awesome though, I use it heavily unlike the original N7

^ What has changed to make you use it so much more?

The form factor is a major change. So a lot of people bitch about the bezel's looking silly (thin at sides, large top and bottom), however it's now (almost) the exact width of a Kindle. Having used a Kindle for years, it just feels perfect for holding/browsing.
The screen is just drop dead awesome! VLC + 1080p tv shows = happy camper. I also find the resolution seems better for browsing the web etc...
Performance wise, dunno, I haven't really done anything intense on it yet (besides some playing of Bards Tale).I really do use it heavily for browsing stuff while sitting on the sofa, or gaming (even though I have laptop right next to me). Also battery life "seems" better. Before on the N7 v1 I could watch 4 x tv shows and be pretty much on fumes. Now I can do that and still have 1/4th battery left (or more).

You've just sold the new N7 to a customer that wasn't even considering it. :-)

I think, from lots of wondering and observation that the number of up arrows you put indicates how many posts up you are referring to.

Oh yeah and the forum can be read without resizing.

• #12290
^^ hhahaha yeah I assumed it wasn't about auto-rotate

Thanks for the info Kirth. I'll definitely be picking up a 32GB in September. I just need to shift my Asus vivotab RT now :/

What I want is to record video in landscape ratio even when the phone is being held vertically. Frankly I don't want a portrait video unless I'm using Vine.
I tried to tweak the aspect ratio in the stock app's settings to no avail.
Any ideas?

I think I don't understand because on my Nexus 4 if I want to record a video in landscape, I hold the phone in landscape mode whilst I record it.
Then, when I press play later... the video is in landscape not portrait.
It's really that simple on the Nexus 4.
What phone do you have, and if you try shooting in landscape and playing it back, does it really not do landscape?
Sounds like HTC or Samsung fucking with the defaults again. The defaults are actually fine and there is no problem recording landscape on the Nexus 4.

I think he wants it in a portrait orientation host on his bike but shoot in landscape.
Frankly I think it is nuts. It's just the way the sector is oriented.
-
• #12297
Oh right... he wants to shoot landscape whilst the phone is physically portrait?
Yeah, that's nuts.
Some cameras do this, but not the phone ones.

one of the myriad lenses on here might get you closer to what you want

Why is it nuts?
Phone is big, hands are small. Vertical is easier. I would put up with loss of quality in a aspect ratio tweak of some kind. Must be possible, I've seen it done for stock still camera.

Who uses Tasker?
I've got a problem, no matter what profile or task I create, once a profile is activated eg:
Profile: headset plugged in
Task: launch SpotifyI plug my headset in and it loads Spotify, it then disables screen lock. No matter if I use the power button to turn the screen off or let it timeout, it won't re-activate the screen lock until I restart my phone.
Has anyone else come across this? It's really annoying. I can't find anyone else online who has had the same problem.
