mosquito is full of nice kit but does look a little pricey. Saying that im sure you could get it cheaper online or whatever but its nice to see em in the flesh and they do seem to have plenty of stock (they can be pretty arsey unless youre spending loadsa money in their shop in which case im sure they will be lovely to you).

Drop via Cyclelab and Juice Bar on Pitfield St and see if they can get you a Ritte titanium frame to build up.

Hey Yorgo, I know this market!
I'd strongly recommend both Cycle Fit (Covent Garden) and Bespoke Cycling (Farringdon).
At this end of the market, bikes are so damn close in performance and comfort (they're all custom or will be fitted to you) that honestly... just choose with your heart. If you want a Moots, do it. Get the Moots, you'll be so much happier owning the bike you dreamt of and lusted after. Don't be swayed by others who have their own dreams and want this and that... just get the Moots. When you look back on it in 5 years time, see it in your apartment, you'll still have that glow that this is your dream bike. So ignore everyone else.
As such: http://www.bespokecycling.com/ is your friend.
They do the Moots.
And if you're not set on Moots, still in that zone where you could be swayed, then they have Look, Parlee, Eriksen (more titanium fun), Colnago (almost common in this company), and Pinarello. I think they're some kind of Trek & Specialized centre too.
Bespokes downstairs section is great, they do good fitting, have a hell of a range of components to try and swap in and out. They can build your dream bike then and there.
My only complaint with Bespoke? It's not the kind of shop that will give you a beer as you wait around being fitted and browsing. And a beer would be nice.
Now, if you don't go for the Moots, and the Eriksen's don't take your fancy... then the other bespoke titanium route is Serotta, which means CycleFit. CycleFit are also awesome http://www.cyclefit.co.uk/ even if their web site is overly orange. You'd be looking at the http://serotta.com/legend-se/ and ignore the picture on their site, it's fully custom and you can silence every logo, have the whole thing naked titanium, and choose a classic top tube rather than the compact sloping one.
Both shops are not far from each other, 1 mile, Farringdon Road to Drury Lane.
The only problem with looking for a bike whilst you are on a crutch... all of the bikes at this level are bespoke, you'd expect a fitting. If you can't get the fitting right now then they might recommend waiting. Both shops really want the bike to be perfect for you, and that means getting the fitting perfect from the outset. So bear that in mind.

I'd add Sigma Sport in Kingston if you want to venture out of central London and have a squint at their titanium Seven bikes, which are easily up there with Moots and Serotta IMO
they also have a pretty good range of crarbrorn bikes as well

^no, they may be good but they're not that good. buy a moots, i never regret the day i bought mine, though it has to be said mine was 2nd hand. Also I would be tempted to say (I am biased) that you should stick with titanium. When spending that much money I'd want to get something I don't have to throw away after 1 crash and than can be repaired easily

If you're thinking Moots certainly look at Kent Eriksen. He was Moots Cycles founder, until he left to start afresh as in his words " The decision to leave Moots was about wanting to work with the customer again. I had lost that small frame builder feel at the production level "
@ Velocio .. Serotta production closed the door this month and are no longer manufactured.

I wasn't aware of the Kent Eriksen background, cheers Oswald.

That's a shame about Serotta.
+1 to Mosquito for bling choices. They also have Pegoretti and its relatively close to the City and the shops Velocio recommended.

Wow, shame about Serotta, such heritage and great bikes. Always wondered whether it was sustainable, their paint shop was legendary for being more like a car detailing shop.

Talk to Emilié Object, he will (very knowledgeably) bore you for several days on the subject...

OK so I am thinking of a short trip to London from Paris this weekend, mainly to spend an obscene amount of money on a road bike. There is way less choice here, and I'm obsessed with the idea of owning a Moots Vamoots.... I guess I'm nearing** my forties and the mid-life crisis that comes with the period.** Something like this would help me go through these harsh times:
By most people's estimation, your entire adult life seems to resemble a midlife crisis. You posh car driving, world traveling, bike polo playing, magazine starting, bastard.
You should buy a bike bag while you're there. cough
(Just kidding. The last thing in the world I need is another bike bag. Hope to see you over the weekend, though!)

He'll probably say...
Firefly XCr
Independent Fabrications XCr
Cinelli XCrIf I was going for a metal frame then anything XCR would be my personal choice.
Of these particular three, probably the If for my personal preference.Luckily I realised I was too young for a proper midlife crisis and found a killer deal on a Giant TCR for the B bike.

Sigma sport is worth a visit , I was in there last week and they had this exhibit still on display which in itself is enough to warrant a look

^That looks incredible.

If I was to have an unlimited budget for a Ti frame it would be definitely be going on an Eriksen.
However you can't buy otp they're all made to order so no good for impatient Yorgo.
-
• #24
What would you expect to pay for an Eriksen frame?
-
• #25
no god dammit
you've enough bikes already

I have a few questions though:
Bear in mind that I'll stay East, and just had knee surgery so walking with a crutch, unable/unwilling to cross London to see a shop in Fulham or somewhere as far...
