I like all brands involved, and whilst I don't have a Charge bike I think their range is good. Kinoko is a good shop. And I think the 511 Commuter jeans from Levis are the best jeans out there, full stop.
Been frustrated on Twitter that what looks like a neat bit of marketing (the event) was largely being fluffed by bad communication.
Levis busy banging on about jeans, but actually Levis want new customers and should be appealing to cyclists rather than Levis fans.
Charge have little to lose, and a bit to gain, but seemed to be second to Levis when actually they're one of the hooks of the event.
Kinoko win by proximity to the event and flogging the Levis stuff. They lend cred by association, but they weren't being mentioned on Twitter.
Watching this was frustrating... 3 brands that are all great, not quite figuring out how to communicate successfully when brought together.
I think cyclists have simple needs: Free bike wash will get a hell a lot of us down there, and the chance to win a sweet Charge bike too? Just by tweeting a pair of jeans? No brainer.
No worries.
