I just polished a seat post from grubby n'scratchy and got rid of must of the light ones. The deep one even look a hell of a lot better, they're still there, but much less noticeable.
Depending on how much effort you want to put in, I'd recommend going to a DIY shop and getting a small polishing mop for a drill. Makes it a lot easier.

I also noticed a similar post with regard to scratched Quill Stems so sounds like a project for this weekend.

There's a thread on polishing alloy that you may find a useful read.
So in swapping out the quill stem on my girlfriend's conversion, technically speaking I'd say I "scratched the fuck" out of her Velo Orange bars.
Is it possible to polish it out, even a little? Some of them are fairly deep so I'm not expecting miracles. Just seeing if anyone has attempted similar.
