  • ^^^^^ Damn good infographic, that ;)

  • Hugo7- That's inevitable though I suspect given the massive variety of handsets that run Android right the way through the price range.

In the UK you can pick up an Android "smartphone" for £50- it's the default these days.

Of course. But they've still done well to effectively make it the "default" and become the MS of the phone world.

    The Nokia one is better.

  • But nobody actually uses it.

  • Cheers for pointing me in that direction. I think it might be the cause.

Given your responses that's where I'd be looking. No/Incorrect APN, no data.

    Fixed for you.

    You're welcome.

  • But nobody actually uses it.

I actually looked at Nokias the other day. I want a large button "old fogie" phone for race use.

  • Fixed for you.

    You're welcome.

I wouldn't say fixed. Enhanced maybe, but not fixed.

    Any time.

The buttons weren't big enough though. Noidea >>>

You need a "Raku-raku" phone from Japan.

  • Don't really want touchscreen. They're too big to hold tight and still press buttons with while nailing it over the finest, smoothest roads Britain has to offer.

  • Siri ? Works with a hands-free kit

  • Nah, I've tried Siri and Android voice control and it barely works in a quiet office let alone 40kph on a dual carriageway. Plus, it has to sit in my skinsuit pocket and you're not allowed earphones.

  • Yeah, ta. The Easy Project Easy-to-Use one was what I wanted. Didn't order in time though so had a look in Currys and they just had some basic Nokia 100, 110 or something. Simple but no big buttons. The Easy Project has one-touched dialing. Another option was a throat mic combined with one of those vibrating helmet speakers but that's getting a bit crazy and I don't think I'd have enough battery life for them.

sure you've seen these already. but might be of use if not.

No 3 on that list is fucking awful. I bought it for my mother and it took hours to get her to understand how it worked, with plenty of non-standard actions mapped to buttons and a screen that has minimal contrast.

After all that, I bet she

a). Never turns the phone on
b). leaves it at home when she goes out

  • Spot on.

Every time I go back she asks me to tell how the phone works, and every damn time the SIM has been deactivated and she's lost her credit. I don't bother now.

  • I'm going to root my phone myself next week. Gulp...

  • I'm tempted to root my htc one if only to give access to the useful bits of most of the task based apps.

    ?

I want to be able to text stuff like 'where's my fucking bottles?' - it's very hard to hear audio when I'm riding.

  • I just want to be able to clear off some of the shite it came loaded with.

  • I want to root my Note 2 for the same reason. Sooo much bloat. Haven't really looked into the process yet, but it'll happen eventually.
