FFS, we nearly all used to do this fixed. It’s a piece of piss, especially with the incessant stopping and regrouping you get with ‘hilly’ rides. What the fuck is going on here. note rhetorical punctuation
The metamorphosis from LFGSS to YACF is now complete on this thread, most of the other stuff is textbook bikeradar, the track stuff is no different to the grunt & tech mentality of FGF, and the TT thread has become as dry and predictable as the TTing forum.
I see no other option now than to have a sea-salted dark chocolate caramel; and I may be gone some time...
enjoyable reading :-)
i'm even more enthusiastic to attend tomorrow now!
but it would have to be 42x16 SS, as i'm without the cogs, know-how and time to visit my LBS to convert to the 'magical' ratio of 47x17, which i'm tempted to do soon.. maybe fixing-up at the same time (!); perhaps timely though, as surely 42x16 makes it easier up the hills!
we need a fixed or carry the rucksack rule, so anyone geared gets to carry a rucksack full of locks. Now to source the rucksack.

i'd aim to bring a lightweight rucksack which any of our geared friends are welcome to relieve me of after i start panting!
as for the flatter rides, e.g. Roydon, i'll have the heavyweight for that one, :-)

(as trialled on the trial Chilterns ride so well with Chalfie - who was still pretty pacey, despite the extra weight + sweaty-outpourings!)
