as oppose to 144bcd?

OK I have two Dolan Pre Cursa frames in my possession right now. A new size 52 blue frame from late last year and its larger "replacement" which unfortunately also turned out to be a 52 and not a 54 but is an older frame.
Now the interesting part is that the two frames should be identical and the head tube and top tube length are but** the chainstays are not the same!
**Dolan really did make a change at some point and the "newer" frames nearly have clearance for a medium cyclocross tyre which also increases the minimum Q-factor as the chainstays are wider by several milimeters.
So there you have it then**.

Yeah, sorry, as opposed to a 144bcd crank - I tried Stronglight 2000's 48t with a 107bb and a 111bb (113bb worked but threw the chainline out to far)
I also tried a set of Omniums 48t standard bb but they were even worse.

One one external BB track cranks.

a 48t ring is the same size on the outside what ever the bcd is. With a 130bcd chainset though they'll probably be designed for double rings so if you put a 48 on the outside it will seem like it's further away from the chainstays.

I like Terry Dolan Bikes very very nice .

It was the spider that was catching rather than the ring itself I just listed the ring sizes used for completeness.

Strange that, Mine fit perfectly fine. In fact, most external BB's have allowed for plenty of space between spider and stays. On one externals being the closest. I'm running SRAM S300's now with plenty of space. I guess as TONY said. There must have been a change at some point.

I've just built mine up with a spare pair of Hollowtech 2 cranks. No fouling the chain stay and gives a great chainline with my Miche Primato hub.

Sweet build... Slam that stem though.

Thanks, I'd love to but I'm not flexible enough at the moment and would rather not compromise my efficiency and comfort when on the track.

function over form, you'll get nowhere with that attitude.

Thought about stretching a little bit so you can get into a better position for track, as there really is very little saddle to bar drop on you current setup?

This is my first ever fixie build, got a lot to change I know.. the horrible yellow chain was there when I got it..

Can anyone tell me the bb height/drop of the Pre Cursa with 23c tyres mounted?
-
• #1421
Bottom bracket hight is 285mm and bottom bracket drop is 55mm. No idea to what extent that depends on frame size; mine is a 58...

Thank you! Another question: Which fork do I need to make the Pre Cursa more twitchy? Road fork with 43mm rake or the undrilled Alpina one with 30mm?
-
• #1423
No one knows...
-
• #1424
in the real world it doesn't matter

Road but pretty much this ^
While you can feel a difference if you do a proper comparison you'd likely notice more twitch just because someone told you.
I fitted a 130BCD Sugino crank with a 48t ring last night and now have laughable amounts of clearance. Rode to work today and it was absolutely fine.
Seems like Dolan designed the fxe with a 130 crank in mind
