We just had an almighty down pour in St. Pauls area - still raining. By the time I ride home I'll be soaked through so going to sit out tonight
-
• #1353
Joe! Come to the track! You were missed on Saturday
-
• #1354
could you get a more British URL?
-
• #1355
Does anyone have keys?
We're all locked out....edit: worked out in the end (and stayed dry)
-
• #1356
Glad i turned up just in case, ended up stopping raining before we'd got on the track and dry for the whole session. Team pursuit was good fun.

• #1357
I'll never get a chance to try madison at this rate though
-
• #1358
Yeah last night was good- it was nice to ride the track in a less-busy session and at a slightly cooler temperature. I was surprised how grippy the surface was after that downpour.

Just to mention, Monday night training is on next week, but not the following Monday 19th - as Herne Hill is hosting the final of the Summer Cyclo-cross series
http://www.summerseries.co.uk/
Pleanty of forumers have been participating - could be a good opportunity to try cross before the winter season. http://www.lfgss.com/thread16515-16.html

• #1363
Oooh a surprise!
-
• #1364
scratch, followed by another scratch, then a scratch to finish.
-
• #1365
blerg surprise. Don't think I've got any legs for surprises tonight.
-
• #1366
surprise sprints! good evening, and last race was really fun with the floodlights on
-
• #1367
Yeah, that was fun. I just about managed to stay with the break on the final scratch, so I'm happy with that.
-
• #1368
Yeah good work gaz- you were holding your own there. That scratch blew to bits fairly quick!
I was tired and my knee hurt by then, so sat it out. Some weird riding going on last night - I thought there might be a pile up in that last big race.Good session though, final sprints with the lights were awesome, shame I went to sleep in the banking and then just about managed to get back on laners wheel in the home straight :)

Breakaway pffff, all the action was at the back, the break just helps to separate those who are a bit keen like Gaz.
Some manics around last night, finding it hard to believe some of the chaps there had ridden inters before.
The lights were indeed cool. -

^ sprint chat :)
Yeah - you know its going to be a bit of a sketchy session when the warmup group concertina's non-stop for half an hour :-/
The thing is, you don't have to ride inters to do Monday nights, you just do your induction and supposedly 3 basics. There were a couple of guys riding sketchily last week who hadn't ridden basics or anything, who just did their induction on the night and, bang: straight into race training.
I'm all for experienced club riders or people who race on the road doing fast track induction, but when people show up in t-shirts, board shorts and trainers it's usually a pretty good sign that they've not ridden bikes in a group before. -

Digs out board shorts
Didn't know that was the pathway, had just assumed you needed to be a bit more experienced than that. Can't have these novices getting in the way of elite level sandbagging?!
One guy in the last scratch was a menace, ironically the guy in the world champs jersey. Changing line by a good metre or more either way without ever looking, we had a gang of us trapped at the back for fear of passing him. -
• #1372
Hey - lay off him. He's earned those stripes - when cadel was world champ he rode like a dick for a whole year and no-one ever mentioned his dog.
-
• #1373
When stuff like that happens (first scratch race last night) I just sit up now. I'd rather not run the risk of a crash for no good reason.
-
• #1374
Or you should move in to the advanced group :p
-
• #1375
That too
it's just stopped in new cross.
according to this site it should be ok: http://www.raintoday.co.uk/
looks like it's moving on, and there isn't much behind it.
