I also frequently cycle that way and I've never had an issue there. The bus lane just isn't wide enough for buses and bikes, which is fine if you're happy to sit behind a bus, but we all know a large number of cycle commuters will do anything to get in front of any vehicle.

It's around 200m! I have NO idea why people feel the need to get in a huff and try to overtake only to be stopped by the crossing traffic. A couple minutes wait during busy times is all that's required. The ones that freak me out are the "I'll wait RIGHT behind the bus, then just yank my bike out into possibly oncoming traffic" makes my teeth itch.
