• Too close to home, I will pay my respects at the scene on my way home tonight as this is a few hundred yards from my door.

  • Fuck! Fucking lorries! It happens now almost every week, it needs to stop. RIP

  • RIP again, such sad news, that black logo gets me every time..

  • Something needs to be done about HGV's killing cyclists. This can't keep happening.

RIP poor cyclist and condolences to the family and friends.

  • RIP rider :(

  • RIP rider.

  • oh bloody hell... black logo. Another HGV.

:( RIP poor cyclist. Thoughts are with his family and friends.

  • Not again, just checked while eating lunch and noticed black logo...

    RIP rider :(

Boris/Westminster get the lorries sorted FFS! Mandatory mirrors/cycle awareness for drivers isn't too much to ask! They are really death traps in the wrong hands.

  • That's my endz. This has to stop.... RIP

  • So close to us... So sad. RIP

  • Something needs to be done about HGV's killing cyclists. This can't keep happening.

Until a relative of a politician got killed by one, nothing will happen.

  • Rip :-(

  • Rip

  • How did this happen?

    Impossible to speculate. Let's not.

    Terrible news.

  • Horrible news. RIP.

  • Awful news, RIP.

  • Very sad. Condolences to those that knew him.

  • That's just horrible. RIP
Re education for drivers and cyclists needed. Lorries shouldn't be allowed into London without completing some kind of cyclist awareness course. Something has to be done.
This should be happening less and less not more and more.

  • Much love to the grieving family and friends. So sad, so unnecessary.

  • RIP, things (and people, sadly) need to change. Condolences to all affected by this death

  • Black! RIP :(

    completely agree,

is a campaign for legally-binding regulation of HGV Access to Urban Areas the answer? - with a government regulator assigned to monitor compliance, and to hold those HGV operating companies to account, with the power to punish companies that disregard those regulations (e.g. company licence removal, driver bans, heavy financial fine)?

so, a focus on extending the LCC Safer Lorries Campaign to all HGV-operators instead of just councils..

We’re calling on all councils in London to take our Safer Lorries, Safer Cycling pledge (read details). It asks councils to put the following measures in place for all council-operated lorries and for all lorry contractors:

[*]Cyclist-awareness training for all lorry drivers
Training involves lorry drivers riding bicycles on the road so they can better understand the vulnerability of people who cycle. This training is low cost and available all over London.
[*]All lorries to have the latest safety equipment
This means a full set of safety mirrors and sensors/cameras that help the driver be more aware of vulnerable road users near their vehicle. These cost a few hundred pounds per vehicle.

.. and any other appropriate regulations which meets the consensus of experts,

    for consideration,

    • HGVs being restricted to only accessing certain roads at certain times - outside rush-hour?
    • i'd like to know that no life-threatening HGV is driving on urban streets with any financial incentive or otherwise to reach their destination in any quickness other than taking as long as is safe.. (so HGV-Driver payment would have to be purely time-specific, with no discrimination for slower drivers etc.)
  • Black again. RIP rider, thoughts with family and friends. Please ride safe.
