On this morning's commute northbound at the junction of Kennington Road and Kennington Lane a roadie saw fit to squeeze his way through the cyclists in the ASL box and park himself in the middle of the pedestrian crossing area.
I commented:
"That's not the best place to stop is it mate."
He turned to look at me and dismissed me with a wave of the arm.
"You're just not really helping out the reputation of the rest of us are you."
He swore at me, I swore back, assured in my moral victory.
A lady in a Clapham RC vest piped in "Its people like you that mean pedestrians hate cyclists".
Sure enough as the pedestrian lights turned green half a dozen people were forced to pick their way around him.
He couldn't see the lights changing colour so obviously the commuting peloton engulfed him, but he put on a good show of sprinting away from the pack further up the road. The last I saw of him he dived through two red lights before The Cut and headed in the direction of the IMAX.
Mr Ginger on a black road bike - you are the reason pedestrians hate cyclists.
