  • just looked at rider numbers, sub-1000 are the special spots:
    1 » Johnson, Alexander (GBR) 100 Miles 08:04:27
    10 » Edmondson, Iain (GBR) 100 Miles 05:05:20
    42 » Brasher, Hugh (GBR) 100 Miles 04:29:00
    44 » Mr Mather, Chris (GBR) 100 Miles 04:29:00
100 » Trott, Laura (GBR) curiously "last seen" at 91 miles, 02:38:27 (!)

  • So the fastest woman was only three seconds slower than the fastest man?

    Victoria Cowley in 4:03:27
    Jamie Wilkins in 4:03:24

    Or am I missing something?

Looks like Miss Cowley got a cab; she was 15 mins slower than the men at 24 miles then no split times recorded for 45 and 55 miles before she pops up again at 81 miles having averaged 29 mph for 58 miles. ;)

  • There were some very quick women out there, I was in a loose group with a couple of ladies wearing Dynamo kit for a while.

Didn't fix that for you. Too obvious joke is too obvious.

  • I DAS'd someone somewhere in the surrey hills wearing a forum jersey. Crazy singlespeeders!

I wore the sharkpits and was DASd around the 70 mile mark by a guy in a redish brown jersey. I tried.

Saw hofla briefly soon after, which was nice.

Only saw one other guy riding fixed, said he was from Norfolk and a little worried about the hills.

  • I enjoyed taking the family down to watch this. Got a great spot by Trafalgar Square to watch the pros come past.
Going to sign up for next years ride

  • ^^ I didn't see you! I saw one guy on SS, a globe I think, who saw the back of my jersey and came up to look at bike, dropped back again. or maybe overtook, I can't remember.

  • Yeah that was me, I really wouldn't have fancied doing that on a SS my knees are messed up enough as it is! I cant imagine hefting it up Leith on SSorFG

Does anyone know when the official photos are going to get put online?

  • did all LFGSS representers finish ok then?
    middleofnowhere notonthelist

photos are up now! they are still adding them though. I am actually considering buying mine, there's a decent one of me in front of HoP.

Shit no, I guess I meant DC, LFGSSLadies' jersey, was on the Bath ride. Names, forum names, faces, it's all a blur. I was/am knackered. Interesting commute in this morning.

  • So only 12,150 finished it then? How many started out of the 20k who registered? That's a hell of an attrition rate

I'm sure BBC this morning said "70,000" along with 85% of cyclists something something unsafe something conflict with drivers.

  • 70,000 is the number taking part in all events this weekend, i.e. the freecycle too.

  • ^^^ ha! probably DC, we're also of similar ethnicity
^^ the Saturday ride was around those numbers? mon corrected

  • My godamn helmet is on wonky in all the photographs- why can I never get it to sit on my head straight?

Couple of me on the Mall head down, looking totally fucked.

  • There is a rider I was on club rides with in the top ten.

    csb

He is way too fast now.

Now I remember, you were on that first ride as well!

  • 70,000 is the number taking part in all events this weekend, i.e. the freecycle too.

Oliver, is that a valid use of "i.e."? It feels wrong.

^^^ ha! probably DC, we're also of similar ethnicity

Yeah, I knew I was on shaky ground with that error, just off to book myself on a diversity training course.

  • The Mayor does some excellent work de-mythicising and promoting cycling here:

    http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2013/aug/04/ride-london-boris-johnson-cycling-event

It's just as well that he didn't come across RPM on the Tesco run.

    nice article actually, and photo.

and an interlude when a kindly co-competitor called Mark fixed a mayoral puncture.

so many punctures along the route! some even on the A12, poor sods.

  • 3599 :)

  • Oliver, is that a valid use of "i.e."? It feels wrong.

use i.e. when there's only one option, and e.g. when there could be more than one

"I saw Boris doing a Savile on the ride, i.e. cheating like fuck"

"I saw Boris doing what Boris does best on the ride, e.g. looking like a belmer"

Yes, I am being Oliver today, as maybe he will be less hungover and tired.

  • 3599 punctures?!
saw cyclesurgery southwark bridge was open nice and early...

  • 70,000 is the number taking part in all events this weekend, i.e. the freecycle too.

    Ah right.

    What's the freecycle?

  • Noddergeddon.

  • There were some very quick women out there, I was in a loose group with a couple of ladies wearing Dynamo kit for a while.

Didn't fix that for you. Too obvious joke is too obvious.

There are two too obvious jokes in it.
