  • And we will get sponsored and keep the money and spend it on burgers.

  • Can we do it on a tandem trike so I can get pished and not fall off (as much)?

  • Did anybody else favour the right side of the road. It was such a novelty I couldn't help myself. And loved using the full width to apex high speed corners. The commute tomorrow will be so dull.

Yeah - doing the three lane section of the A12 on the wrong side of the road was a novelty worth the early start alone.

  • Glad it was good.

Although if true this is a but annoying:

It appears that only 15,000 have taken part which means that there were 5,000 or 25% no shows.

A little disappointing given how many people were unable to sign up because it was "full".

...as me and my mate didn't get on :(

  • Jersey numbers seemed to go up to 25,000 - based on the booths at registration yesterday. Announcer this morning said something about 16,000 but I assumed that was the number who had started at that point.
Did see a fair number of people who had 'jumped on' - those without helmets were pretty obvious. One guy came through the finish just ahead of me and took a medal..

  • Can't believe you lot let the French win the Pro race..

  • The next Doctor will also be French.

  • If you search the results page I linked to upthread it displays just under 15,000 men and around 4,500 womens results (although some of those might be DNS of course).

  • Can we do it on a tandem trike so I can get pished and not fall off (as much)?

Yes but remember you'll be doing most (all) of the work.

  • I'm ok with that. You'd be surprised at how well I can ride intoximicated. Beats walking anyway and god help me if I have to tackle stairs.

  • Speaking of which I did spot a few riders who just joined the course, which I didn't mind as they weren't really getting in the way, but there was one guy who was riding a mountain bike and was wearing full camouflage, was riding right side of the road and decided to swing a suddenly left and nearly took me and a few riders out :/

  • Probably owns a Range Rover, lives just off the course and was pissed off they'd closed the roads..

  • Hah- I saw a guy who had been driving his range rover down the (closed roads) of the course being nicked by motorbike coppers.

    Yeah?

    That was me.
Sorry dude, places to go, people to see! On my way to check my crayfish traps.

  • Get anything?

  • He's so Tour de France 1906...

I passed Boris at Sutton Abinger - he looked completely fooked.

Lots of people had punctures and saw the aftermath of x3 crashed - gladly seemed injuries were light / v no harm done

My time was 5:15 - need to do more training!

  • You've got 12 months..

  • Next year me and hippy are doing this on a tandem dressed as deep sea divers.

I did see a Tandem - it was flying on the motorway section at the start, a few guys trying to hook on. I didn't even try to keep up, not sure how they got on with the hills.

I was disappointed by a complete lack of boris bikes and infact did anyone see Boris actually riding?

  • Actually, will this happen again? Is it going to be a yearly event?

  • Yep, 2014 entry list opens next week I think it is.

The goal is for this to run in tandem with the Marathon I believe, book-ending the summer.

  • "Wladimiro D’Ascenzo of Italy was first across the line in the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100, winning a 25-man bunch sprint by a wheel’s width from his countryman Rocco Castellucci."

    From the Ride100 site.

Wladimiro D’Ascenzo is Riccardo Ricco aicmfp

  • Actually, I googled him and he is world champ in masters road race (35-39).

Andyp probably new his palmares already.

  • He couldn't have won. It's not a race.

    Oldies but goodies ...

An Audax ride is a ride in which everybody pretends that it's not a race.

A sportive is a ride in which everybody pretends that it is a race.

You could have a little side bet which one of you gets over the line first.
