my (matt) precursa has glossy spots on the top tube where the airflow has polished it, I guess some older ones must be further along if the paint has survived?
Do you really reckon that's from the airflow? I reckoned it was from my legs occasionally brushing the top tube whilst pedaling.

Had enough of Terry Dolan's flagrant over advertising and took a black aerosol to it.

it's not just spots really but the rear-half of the seat tube - I don't think my legs touch it that much. Also the same effect can be seen near the top of the headtube and on the front of the seattube.

Highly doubt it's air.
-
• #1356
hmm yeah I guess the bits on the seattube must be from carrying it on my shoulder.

This. Rear of toptube = carrying it. Front of tube = when you get off the bike, say at traffic lights.
Anyone used any decent spray paint? Spray n pray mine red or yellow or something. Bored of black.

Grab a couple of different colours and fade it by eye!
Bright green to bright pink might be cool, like watermelon flavoured sweets :P

You can always get the rest of the frame to match by making it glossy all over (30 minutes with some T Cut or similar)

Restore the dullness by wiping it down with baby wipes with cif cream cleaner, or any slightly abrasive household cleaner.

Montana 94, eh? You sir, have a good taste in paint.
But seriously, I think I'm too lazy and too much of a n0ob to paint my frame without making it look like poo. -

I think he was saying just spray in the chips etc. there's no clear coat on the precursa so it's just a case of spraying it
-
• #1365
Ah, right. That makes sense.
-
• #1366

How many coats did it take you to cover the gashness?
-
• #1368
Could do it in one but best to do 2 or 3 finer ones.
-
• #1369
nah one will do

• #1370
I used electrical tape. but I left the one on the down tube alone

I take it back. I do like the new pre cura colourways.
Nice build, mate. What wheels have you got on there? -
• #1374
Planet-X cheapos. Been running them for a few years now and still running pretty true. Not the lightest ones but neither is the Pre Cursa.
-
• #1375
Planet X wheels are quite nice, and cheap. Double win there.
But yeah, nice build man. Black chainring and cranks would make it that little bit better.
i don't suspect this is true. More likely it's from your legs/knees rubbin on it
