  • Graham Hill was an exponent of block changing.

  • Was back home last week and reintroduced myself to driving by using this for the weekend.

    I'm in love!

  • Lovely... is it a manual?

  • The point of heel and toeing is that you are braking. That's what the toe is doing.
The heel is blipping the throttle while the clutch is disengaged.

To match the revs of the engine to the gearbox speeds. Mechanically sympathic to the drive train.

  • Great to see a car thread on a bike forum. Too much car hating on other bike forums.

  • I can see her POV, it wrecks gearboxes, I should know, I've been through quite a few, but any time you watch old track videos, they're always downshifting through the gears.

Technology change in brakes, gearboxes and suspension changes what is practical.

there were plenty of knickers in knots when it started.

No it's an auto. Kind of suits it though. it was just fun to cruise around at low speeds and enjoy it in all it's late 80's splendor!

  • Lovely comfy barge I imagine. I've always loved how they look.

    Dead handsome, I love those.

On the subject of shifting, I'm pretty hopeless in cars. On two stroke racebikes, I used to just clutch in and get into whatever gear I needed for the particular corner and then just clutch out with a big blip. Easy.

Used to be a bit more fruity with the 4-strokes because of the engine braking. That's exactly what they do now with modern slipper clutches though.

Engine braking on bikes does dick all into you're well into the corner anyway as the back wheel is barely in contact with the ground.

Is it more of an issue in FWD or RWD cars?

  • Old school camel trophy landy!

  • WTF is that?

  • It's one of those Intermeccanica Indra's from the early 70's, with a Chevy 350 and Opel running gear

  • I think Id have the Citroens in the background over that.

    Flippin' Ace!
I remember these when they first appeared in 1976. I used to ride to the Golf Club to gawp. There again, I thought the caddys' C90s were worthy of a lusty and covert 'sit on'.

  • Bet you wish that you'd thought of this:

  • bronze SM looking amazing

Yes fam! Would love one of these.

  • This was cruising the neighbourhood last weekend.

  • I prefer these without the rear wheel cover. If I could afford 2 cars I'd have one of these and something small like a 106
