anybody else noticed that Royal Mail van drivers are a little over-eager on the accelerator and over-taking recently (even when, reading-the-road-ahead, there is a visible red light)?

Sounds about right. Last time I tried to claim from them I failed. They (used to, not to sure about now) 'self insure' ie. do not pay for insurance but hope that they have enough money in the bank to pay for accidents. It is thus in their interests to not pay anything out, as this is taking money away from their profits / making ther losses not so bad.....
