Lovely hand built Alves by Charles Ralph with Reynolds 653 tubing. Charles Ralph was a expert frame builder based in Elgin ( sadly no longer producing ) and sold his frames under the name of Alves. You can probably find a bit more info on the web. This is a super quality, beautifully built frame that is very responsive and light ( for steel ! ). Lovely thin tubing and stays that gives a wonderful ride. Built in 1994
Size: Seat tube 58 C-C. Top tube 56 C- C
Condition: Used. From 6' the bike looks okay, but looking closer there are a number of paint chips and scrapes and a few minor rust spots. On the plus side there are no dings, dents or any sign of structural damage.
As for the parts they are a mix of campag 8 speed components. The shifters are chorus and rest a mix of mirage or veloce. To be fair, whilst these are all in working order, they are cosmetically tired.
The bike has been virtually unused the last few years so I would say would benefit from new tyres and probably a whizz round the block before setting off on a sportive. Overall I would say the frame is worthy of a re-spray, otherwise if you are not so concerned about pristine appearance it would make a great winter hack / trainer or commuter. Any queries please shout. Looking for £200. I am based in Hampshire, but do go into London, SW11. Dibs followed by immediate PM if you want it.
