I always used to have a kip before gigs.
Might seem odd but I'm mildly narcoleptic, which means instead of getting jumpy with nerves I just tend to feel sleepy. It's pretty much under control these days but isn't particularly helpful with bike racing when you need to be fired up but just feel like laying down and having 40 winks.
