I have only been doing the route along Old St/Clerkenwell Rd/Theobalds Rd for a week, there is a bus lane at the bottom of Theobalds Road that continues straight onto Bloomsbury Way.
I had always ploughed on down here following others, but this morning a whole bunch of police were there, pulling bikes over to point out it's for busses only and a dangerous route for cycling.
He mentioned a £30 fine, but gave the standard 'let you off with a warning' speech.
As I set off in the direction that I should have been following down Procter Street and across Holborn crossroads I realised, that this was the bit where that poor guy was killed by a lorry two weeks ago. TBH I think I'd rather my chances in the bus lane, horrible junction, no wonder so many people take that route.
(For the record the police man was very nice and reasonable)
