  • Dunno if this has been posted or not. Had a search and these criteria gave a lot of results so sorry if this is a re-post.

Anyways, Halfords are selling Brooks B17 saddles in Black and Honey for £32 which is obviously cheap as fuck. Thought you lot might wanna know.

    LINKAGE

  • Nice spot pp, however I can't track down a shop that has them in stock, and they say they cannot deliver.

  • And Halfords sell shit BSOs and don't pay enough tax. But thanks anyway.

  • There's a trick to that! buy them from cyclesurgery or evans using a price chbeck and show them halfods are doing it for £32!

  • Suport your Indy LBS!

  • Price match only works if the item's in stock...

    Plus what Skully said...

  • Twickenham has them in store - seems to be the only place nationwide.

  • Evans price match, done. This will be my third attempt at enjoying a Brooks.

  • Does Evans match the price online or in-store, or both?

  • 'in-store' and 'instore'

Where the fuck did this word even come from? Fucking management speak.

The words "online" and "in-store" are standard English usage. For a fuller explanation of the need for a hyphen in the latter, you will need to consult a book on English grammar.

I can't see that there's any need for anger and obscenities. I've always believed that cyclists are a nice bunch of people.

  • This is a bit like asda selling cheap milk. Seems like a good idea but somebody somewhere who deserves a better deal out of it is getting fucked. They're worth more.

  • I disagree wrongcog, in my experience of working in retail, when products like a Brooks saddle are being sold off cheap, its usually because of an administrative fuck up with the retailer, or because the retailers want to turn stock over, even at a loss.

Brooks won't have sold any saddles to their distributors at a lower rate than usual, its just retailers sometimes sell stuff at a loss in order to stay in the game. If anything this is a good sign that Halfords are falling behind, trying to compete with websales! hurrah!

  • Or trolling Evans by creating a price match shit storm.

Sorry - I fucking hate Halfords.

  • Well there were none available in Manchester but I used Evans online price match and now I will be picking my £32 Brooks B17 in 1-2 working days.

    Boom! thanks OP.

  • Thanks, Taba. Very useful.

  • This is great - all the shitty bike shops are all in this together - one massive clusterfuck.

I just printed out the thingy and nipped round to kings cross cycle surgery and picked up one of these bad boys for 32.00. They have one more in black, which he was willing to sell me as well, but my mate wanted a honey one and they had none. If anyone else is able to go in that branch this arvo they are expecting someone to come in an buy it so won't put up a fight!

  • Also used the Evans online price match, takes a few minutes for them to get back to you but went through without a problem.

    Cheers!

I think high-end bike saddle manufacturers probably aren't living on the breadline, as opposed to dairy farmers who constantly have their profits eroded by supermarkets trying to squeeze a better deal for themselves.

    Sold out pretty much everywhere

Evan's website still says that they have stock: Brooks B17 STD Saddle webpage,

awaiting the price match code.. 27 mins passed so far... (!)

  • I'll admit that I did a bit of photoshopping in order to get mine in black, examination instore is so lax that I don't see why you couldn't do this anytime...

  • Evans still seem to be price matching via their website, despite the saddle bring unavailable via Halfords. I've just ordered mine for home delivery!
