Which breathing technique?

  • Which breathing technique?

I was wondering what breathing technique you all use to stay alive? Personally, I've been using the medulla oblongata in the brain stem to control breathing based upon CO2 levels for a while now, and it seems to work, but wondered if there was a better way that cycklists use?

    cheers

  • Pop a pillow on it.

  • been doing the uujayi breath for a long time now, it transfers into my sleep apparently, hear rapha have some good ones though

  • I used to know this girl yeah, she would smoke the chronic only to have panic attacks, but she was allergic/OCD weird about paper bags......ha ha hahhhhh

  • Breathing is much like making love to a beautiful woman; in, out, in, out, in, out, in, out, relax.

  • marathon session

  • Snickers session

  • Don't the peanuts get in the way?

  • this is how its done apparently

  • through my ears...

  • I never deviate from breathing precisely the result of this equation each and every day - has kept me alive thus far.

  • did you know that snakes breath through their eyelids? or something

  • I don't need to breathe. My blood does not require oxygenating.

  • My breathing is quick and sehr shallow. Its not somthing I consciously force but im not sure its healthy. When riding in a group those around me start to unnerved, last week I was on a climb and a group of overweight old men I eventually overtook were worried (in french) I was about to expire on them.

Glad we have some budding neuroscientists on this thread as I think its related to an automatic nervous system response attempting to control my blood pressure (which is always low)

Wondering if I should force longer deeper breathing from the belly?

  • Diaphragmatic is best.

  • Draw us a picture then.

  • yes, draw us a diaphragm.

  • in
    out
    in
    out
    in
    out
    in
    out
but sometimes when i'm hammering it it's more like

in out in out in out in out

  • Through the mouth.

  • Through the arse

  • same as Jond, d.a.b.

    ..and relax

  • in through the nose, and out through a straw pointing behind. It's pretty aero

Try swimming, long slow breastroke helped with my breathing and I'm convinced it increased my lung capacity too...
