My son has also just finished his first year at Sheffield. When I was looking at cycling options there, I came upon this site, http://www.sfnr.org.uk/ , and was very jealous.

SFNR is a bit nodder heavy but the organiser is pretty cool and it can show some interesting sides to the city. Guaranteed to get you out of the usual student territory.
I'll be dusting off the fixed in September so remember to bump this thread around then and we can sort something out.

Sounds good to me! Looking forward to it.
I live in St Albans, but I go to University in Sheffield. I'll be in my second year, as from September.
I was intrigued as to whether there is a big single speed/ fixed gear community up there. The first thing you notice when you live in Sheffield is the monstrous hills, just wondered if this would limit the popularity of fgss?
If you live in Sheffield, let me know, maybe we could arrange a ride sometime in September when I'm back for uni. Hopefully there's a load of us that can get involved. I didn't have my bike last year, so I don't know many routes etc, so if anyone can post some of those too, that would be cool!
