  • Been a while but I'm back on the case with this. Recovered Flite without padding.

  • Subbed...want to see how this turns out

  • Got the frame and some other bits back from the powder coaters. Just need to get some decals done and build the wheels.

  • can you remove the logos from the forks?

  • Fork decals are lacquered on unfortunately.

Mavic Open pros now with satin black powder coat and custom decals.

Things are moving a bit faster now. Hopefully get the wheels built tomorrow after work.

  • You made those rims?

  • I am intrigued too. I presume shop powder coat then made the decals?

  • They're the rim's from post #5 above. Had them powder coated in satin black and my mate made the new decals.

  • Subbed - not sure how I missed this before.

So how's the budget aspect of it going?

  • The colour looks good, you going to put the Dolan decals back on? Looks better without imo. What's the weight like?

  • Frameset £200
    Powder Coat £50
    Stem £8
Bolts n bearings £15 (ish. I've kinda lost track)
    Tyres £25 (trade for pair)

Everything else is off my old Major Nichols build at the top of the thread.

Think it's a pretty budget build compared to a lot of bikes on here.

Not sure about decals at the moment but it won't be the original Dolan ones. Not sure on weight either but it's not gonna be that light.

  • Ah sure - didn't realise a lot of the parts were carried over. Lovely stuff.

  • Cheers, it's an old Kore riser bar I had kickin around, chopped n powder coated.

  • Nearly done. Just need to apply the decals before I can do a full reveal but here’s a few teasers.

  • this is fucking rad, well played!

  • I did have some custom decals sorted but after the Lovenskate sticker went on I just thought it looked good so I guess this is it done.

Not a big fan of the bars already so I’ll probably go for some road drops sometime soon.

  • Wheels look mega, good work.

Get some wider risers on there, wide is the new narrow according to Spatr....

but srsly, so much more fun with wider bars.

  • Ace!
Best pre cursa in a fair while!
    What are the tyres?

  • Pasela's from looks of it.

Only thing left is to repaint the tops of or apply alternative decals to the forks to hide those Alpina logos innit.

  • Yeah, tyres are Paselas. Don't know what's goin on with the pics on this thread. All seem to be jumbled between posts. Don't know if it's the same for everyone?

How wide should I be goin with the bars then? I got another set. Still might go with drops at some point. I'm thinkin orange tape.

  • Looks awesome! Tri spok for the win?

  • That stem :-(

And also, my tiny chain ring thread>>>>>

Presumably that's because they are 130bcd cranks? Bigger chain ring and change the stem and it would be soooo good.

    Wheels are fantastic,

  • Stem is great. Throwback to our MTB days.

I've got a pair of risers cut to 56 that I like, got some narrower than that too, but not as narrow as yours (which look about 36-38?)

You could always start wide and cut down gradually until you find the right balance?

  • Cheers. Would love a tri but no way I can afford one right now. Thinkin about makin a disc for the back tho :)

Can't see what's up with the stem and as for gearing I think 42:17 looks better that say 52:21, especially on a 130bcd chainset. Big rings look good on track bikes but 21t cog on the back would look shit imo.

  • This build is so slick, the gumwalls look great.
