You're asking what 'I know' means?

His small tumble may leave him furious, for a while but then hopefully he may think twice about the actions that led to the tumble and modify his behaviour in the future.
Slowing would have allowed the person to pul out oblivious to the danger they were causing and in a small way would reward his bad behavious and encourage him to repeat it.
Call me harsh but I believe that people should suffer the consequences of small mishaps to prevent their risk perception becoming skewed and causing big mishaps.

Isn't one of the headline instructions in the Highway Code that you must do all you can to avoid an accident irrespective of who is at fault? Sounds like the accident was entirely avoidable.
I get your argument Ramaye but dumping someone on the ground is dangerous at any speed, the ground is hard and they won't be prepared for it, it's not a cross race. you couldn't guarantee that it would be a small tumble.
In my opinion it would be better to slow down, let him in, and at the next opportunity politely point out that he is a cunt.

he shoulder checks, I'm sure he sees me

^ this. Confirmation bias is responsible for half the incidents in this thread.

The other day some twat I was alongside (c.3 feet away from) lost control a bit and veered into me on a narrow road packed with other cyclists. I had to lean in and hold the prat upright with my shoulder while the pillock sorted himself out and regained control.
Should have called him a cunt at the time but I didn't, should have kidney punched him but I didn't. I should have slowed which would have probably dumped him on the ground to teach him a lesson but I didn't. I shall instead call him out on this thread. He did buy me a sausage roll and a bacon bap later on so he's not all bad, if just a bad cyclist.
Side note, last time I saw him lose control like that he rode into a hedge and cut his face (still ugly though). Might suggest cycle training next time I see him.
You know who you are, consider yourself called.
-
• #7807
Ha! Fair enough.
But on a serious note, that^ twat learnt a lesson without being dumped on the ground.
To clarify, I think william's point about allowing the bad cycling to go unchecked is wrong, I'm just saying that pushing someone off is a bit too uncontrollable as a punishment and also, should push come to shove, makes you legally liable.
-
• #7808
I read it as hefty did not expect the guy to run into him and the shove was just life preservation given the traffic on the other side. It wasn't retribution (which would be a whole other thing).
-
• #7809
No. I wanted him dead.
Actually the first thing. I didn't expect him to go down, the intention was to keep him on the path and keep both of us safe. I didn't think my cyclist arms would have the power to floor the poor sod.
Like I said above, I feel bad, my intention was one of gentle route guidance rather than physical injury. Wholly avoidable if I'd made the judgment he was still going to join, but he looked me in the eye, changed his course as if he wasn't, then still did.
His fault, but I was a teensy bit of a cunt.

• #7810
Yeah, we have jumped to the conclusion that Hefty's collision was avoidable which is far from clear. The argument has moved on a bit, I'm not trying to suggest that Hefty is some sort of cycle-path vigilante, I'm just trying to make a more general point.

Well I'm number two, especially with intollerant people, I can't fucking stand intollerant people.

On the way up to London Fields for the DD on Saturday, encountered a young man enraged and wielding his d-lock in the middle of the intersection of Threadneedle & Bishopsgate. A second later three big blokes jump off one of those 10-person pedal powered keggers and they face off right in the middle before getting pulled apart. I guess probably don't pull out the d-lock unless you really intend to use it.. seemed like that really escalated some small slight into what could have become assault quite quickly. And give those pedal platform things a wide berth.

Seriously, one of my mottos is 'tolerate everything except intolerance'.
and them forrins

• #7814
Black (and orange?) road bike, deep section wheels and a fucking white aero bottle! Can't be many of these in London.
Yes, the ped wandered across the road and you had to ride around them but that's your responsibility. Don't mouth off at them and then 5m later sail blindly through the subsequent pedestrian crossing you double-standards shit bag. The car stopped at the crossing meant there's no way you could tell for certain no one was crossing. You could have harmed a midget, motherfucker!

And give those pedal platform things a wide berth.
Every time I've come across one of these while cycling it's ended with me riding down the side high fiving everyone on it.
-
• #7816
The group of 4 other cyclists on Camberwell New Road this morning that jumped 5 red lights in a row. No indication that they were riding together, just blindly following the rider in front.
-
• #7817
The bloke who pulled in front of me (in front of the stop line) at the junction of Holloway Road and Camden/Tollington Rd. I'm not too surprised by that, it's a crap junction, particularly if you don't take your lane.
When we set off and he meandered across the junction with a load of cyclists and cars behind him I saw that he was riding across the junction whilst playing with his phone!

• #7818
Seriously, one of my mottos is 'tolerate everything except intolerance'.
Oh that's why you came on the TdF thread and told everyone you had higher moral standards than them. Thank you for clearing that up.
-
• #7819
I think you must be mistaken, Mr. Fingers. The model of easy-going tolerance posting on this thread can't possibly be the same person who posted on the TdF thread while sat on their high horse, posturing on the self-appointed moral high ground. No-one could be such a hypocrite, surely?

You're asking what 'I know' means?
no. I'm asking what 'Iknowmeme.gif' means. I suppose | could have guessed it meant you didnt agree with me.
I didn't expect him to go down, he looked me in the eye... changed his course as if he wasn't, then still did.
His fault, but I was a teensy bit of a cunt.fair enough, I wasnt there, good on you for allowing that you were a little bit of a cunt. Two cunts dont make a right, eh?
To clarify, I think william's point about allowing the bad cycling to go unchecked is wrong,
If that had been my point, I would also have thought I was wrong. He should definitely be called out.

Needs foot retention obviously.
Seriously, this confused me for a bit. Feeling dim today.
Sorry about that, rage typo! Ah that guy on a non-foot-retention fixed would have been Death Wish. And great to watch.
It's "to float" Which may be NI English, over here it's "floating over lanes" if people can't stick to their lane.

Calling out Tenners for crashing into me in Regent's Park, generally RLJing and not obliging my DAS.

Cycling along Mile End Road towards Stratford, when I stop at the lights outside Stepney Green station. There's just 1 car in front signalling left so I sit behind and watch a few cyclists filter up the inside to get to the front.
Lights go green, car patiently waits for 3 or 4 riders to clear then moves forward to make the turn. I'm rolling slowly behind.
I then hear "woah woah heyyy" and the sound of brakes. 2 riders steaming up the blue paint not paying any fucking attention whatsoever.
Neither noticed me waiting for the car to manoeuvre, or the car signalling.
The guy on the outside brakes hard and stops at the back left of the car, which he uses to hold himself up. Then as the car has (thankfully) noticed these dicks and stopped, the riders continue up the inside and on their way, grumbling as they go.
I see a lot of shit riding but I've never yet felt obliged to say anything until tonight. Whether it was my mood, the heat, and the amazing patience of the driver I don't know.
Unfortunately what I said wasn't as profound as I'd wished. As they skidded to a halt and rested on the car i could only muster "C'mon Guys!" In a wail of frustration. And then as they continued on with a grumble, a "man It's your own fault!"
Must get snappier...

A kidney punchâ„¢ should do the trick.

• #7825
I wasn't even there. Don't go trying to pin that shit on me.
Really, Ramaye? His 'small tumble' will leave him furious, and confused. Noone in this situation has learned anything.
Hefty, what does that mean? Can you understand the point I am trying to make, or are you stuck at the level of adolescent posturing?
