As an IF steel, most likely to be 853

Well that escalated quickly... good price in the end but more than I was willing to pay. I'm not sure it's actually a 63, I think that might be to the top of the seat tube making it a 59ish.

Any idea what this is?
Tempted for a cheap winter build.

^ looks good to me, ask for a pic with wheels in to check geo

Thanks. I've messaged him, the only problem I can see is making 700c wheels work with a frame built for 27 inch,
-
• #47792
It's not a problem, it just looks 'gappy' unless you have large tyres and mudguards.
-
• #47793
It also weighs a metric tonne, which might be fine - but there are better 'winter' frames out there.
Obviously depends what you want it for though, so I'll shut up.As you were.

£230 for a £1700 frame and forks doesn't seem too bad at all.

Yeah, no doubt.
If I wasn't between houses right now I would have put a higher bid in, who knows what the highest bid of the winner was though.

Intrigued as to what you mean...
I figured the best way for me to get a cheap winter frame was to go down the old road frame route?

Thing is, that's an OLD frame so the geometry is going to look weird unless you're building a cruiser type thing.
there's a big step up in quality between a £20 frame and a £50 frame. I'd gey something designed for 700c wheels and guards. 531 touring/audax frames are readily available for £50.
That's just my opinion, of course; you may be looking for something different. -
