• With the absence of Contador the Spanish challenge should come from mainly Purito and Valverde. Is there anyone from Euskatel that can mount a credible challenge?

Sky's decision should be easy: send Wiggins and pretty much the Giro squad. But with Wiggins not riding and Uran about to defect who do they put in as leader? A potentially tired Porte, which blew up in their faces last year. Henao is riding for them next year, Uran isn't, do you want a rider about to defect leading your team in a GT, and then sodding off with all those world tour points? Not that will matter too much to Sky.

How seriously is Nibali taking it? For me it will be him and Purito to beat. There's also a chance Quintana might race it, as he didn't do much racing at all in the lead up to the Tour.

Just hope it's a more civil affair than the Tour.
