I think it's a valid point, more about dozy cyclists going up your arse than cars who are oblivious anyway. I was in Copenhagen recently where > 40% of people commute on bicycles, there are separate lanes, crossings etc and I imagine it's a model for inner city which we will hopefully adopt.
