    I agree with this. That's why I made a point of saying that it is always the rear-ender's fault.

    And yoav is surely right about the typical car driver's bad judgement. I think you're more likely to be rear-ended by another cyclist who's following you more closely than they should than by a car driver who's probably positioned to the side of you.
