After I read that SR article a while back it struck me that there are many similarities to Arsenal but that the main advantage that Porto have is their ability to bring in South American/African players much more easily.
Whereas Arsenal often have to use feeder clubs/loan systems before players will be viable for a work permit.
The difference being I think that Arsenal would like to keep hold of many of the top players but because they have not challenged for honours enough players wish to leave for that reason - Porto players are bought as much for potential re-sale value and also the stepping stone aspect.
Thanks for reminding me of the Ramble, I hadn't read the last 3/4 articles! (must spread after Cisse lolz)
