is this bike cafe going to be one of those places where you are served by a famous lookalike? Chris Boardman serving croissants with Lance Armstrong filtering coffee etc
-
• #3
It's certainly sounds like it should be good. There's some good minds behind it.
-
• #4
niche nailed, where abouts is it gonna be?

I heard the level

• #7
On the level? That would be a perfect spot.

• #8
Great idea!

• #9
If this gets people out for fixed races then I'll be happy!
-
• #10
The level would be awesome.

• #12
Looks promising. Any scheduled date for opening?
-
• #14
How has the opening gone? Well, I hope
Was walking past with my girlfriend the other day and she mentioned the likelihood of the majority of customers being bored mums from the park (which is constantly packed) - hoping this might not be the case as it would be nice to see a cyclist foundation of customers maintaining the ethos of the place

Was in there on Saturday, pre-ride 9am and post-ride 12pm. A few riders were there earlier but later on it was, as your lady surmised, full of families.
No disrespect meant, of course, they're just the people who will most use the park and surrounding play area. Still, it's a nice spot for a meet-up and coffee.

I'm guessing early Sat/Sun will see the most cyclists.

Was in there this evening. I had mixed feelings about the place before I went but they seem to have done a good job. I would be concerned about leaving my bike outside unlocked. Coffee was good and the staff are friendly. It would be a good pre/post Beacon hang out.

Why would you even think about doing that? o_0

Well much like any other cafe stop you tend to nip inside to order a drink and your bike is left outside for a short while.
Good news is the cafe will lend you a lock!

I could've worked out not to leave a bike unlocked in the level for a single second, without going to the cafe
-
• #21
^ This. Get a lock.
-
• #22
Have you not seen the 'wine experts' lurking at the North end yet?
-
• #23
I think it's a given for most people to lock their bikes up when in town.
When you're not pootling around town though, say when you are about to go on a longer ride, then you may not want to carry a lock. I wouldn't carry a D-Lock for 40 miles on the off chance I went to the cafe. Instead I'd ride with a pal and one of us could watch the bikes :)

One watches the bikes, one buys the pints :)

I'm sure they won't mind you taking the bike in?
Velo - the cycling cafe that's coming to Brighton in the Summer of 2013. Driven by a passion for great coffee, great food and cycling.
let us know locals, is this the place to go when we stop off in B-RIGHT-ON??
