looks like an easy enough repair, seems as though it's just broken at the weld? hope someone saves it

This the one from Retrobike from Muswell hill? What's the advantage of having a rear brake bridge like that?

Yes it is... Picked it up last night,, got the seat post, saddle and brakes on a pashley im trying to do up on the cheap..
Any takers?
Rear wheel needs truing and probably new cones as well...

Standard 80's Raleigh bridge; cheaper to make.
Makes mounting a rack a bit easier / neater.
RHS Dropout snapped at the chain stay... Maybe swap the drop outs for something more interesting/ pactice some welding?
Pick up in nw3 near gospel oak tube
The wheels are up for grabs as well..
