  • have you read the thread? In the last 2 pages there was one

same 'official' route each year then?
or is there more a, find your own way vibe going on?

  • there is an official 'guide' but its also find your own way or more like 'follow the person in front of you' vibe

  • First year i did it, i didnt have a route, a garmin, or even an idea where i was going. I just went with the flow.

  • How far is Darsham from Dunwich? Do i book a ticket beforehand or time up and pay?

Sparky what time are you expecting to get to Norwich?

trying to get possible ducks in a row.

Not sure. Will chill at the beach for a bit then set off. Hopefully not too late.

  • ...
I will, unfortunately be on something a lot less comfortable.

i have made a special purchase... 35deg ftw

  • Has anyone got a garmin route for the ride?

Just follow the blindingly bright, flashing red lights

  • I've been let down by the two blokes who said they'd do it with me, so will be [desperately] looking for some friends. Please say hai to the lonely man on the black Vitus with rear 4spok spinergy.

In my experience doing it alone is liberating; you can draft whoever suits you and break off whenever you need a piss/flapjack, total freederm

  • This^

My group got split up so many times last year, but there is always someone's wheel to suck and you'd be surprised how easy it is to find the people you've lost.

  • ^to a degree that's true, but one year I was struggling to maintain a racing pace to catch up with a friend, only to stop several miles later, call his mobile and discover that he was miles behind me.

Yup always do this. Meet people make new friends, catch up a drop/get dropped by old friends

I kind of thought the same, but then got a bit scared of going off course and getting lost and/or killed in Essex.

I pulled over for a piss at that horrible club/pub in Epping Forest and there was a (used) bag of coke in the toilet. I hate Essex.

    Used bag ie empty
    Something like this?

    ewww

Yeah. I say 'coke', it could have been anything. Just seemed like a coke kind of place.

    Grim.

That was just before one of the boy-racers pushed a rider into a pot hole, snapping the forks on his 853 Bob Jackson and fucking his elbow up.

    Again, fuck Essex.

    you doing it JB?

  • I spent £8 eBay for a pair of Cree torches with handlebar mounts. Worked great.

Did anyone else's crees come with stupid extenders that you had to take out before the lights work?

  • SOLD

Not doing DD anymore and have an early bird coach ticket if anyone wants it. £20 face value. PM me.

  • Did anyone else's crees come with stupid extenders that you had to take out before the lights work?

Not even opened up the packaging yet. Will post back soon.

Are they not adaptors that let you run AAAs/Lithium?

  • Did anyone else's crees come with stupid extenders that you had to take out before the lights work?

The extenders are to allow you to use some swish rechargeable battery size. Mine came with them and I was intrigued as to what they were so I looked them up.

They're expensive though, I seem to think.

For those using these, take spare batteries. I bought a pack of cheap AAAs last year and took them with me as after a couple of hours they faded a lot.

  • in!

Aha. That makes loads of sense. Thanks.

  • Mine came with a freakin stupid cap light.

    50p
