I would go for a FAGH and an on guard brute.
Bear in mind though, if they can't cut your locks, they will cut what it's locked to....

A reach useful for connecting to a verity of bike stands and urban locking locations (aka fences)
By the way, that chain is not recommended at all. Please see the first post of this thread.

After about 5 years of use my squire lock decided to jam. Filled it with oil and it never helped. Seems like the innards did something very bizarre, the key position is 180º of where it should be based on the locking "teeth".

Turn the key at 30.

Turn your head 270°.

Squire have a 10-year guarantee on most of their products, so I'd suggest either contacting the place where you bought it, or going direct to Squire themselves on their helpline: 01902 308052.
I hope that helps,
Steve.

Could anyone advise on whether the Fagh Mini would fit this? Or would the M18 be a better fit? I'm having trouble finding if the M18 on Amazon includes theft cover - I know the Fagh Mini cover is more than enough for this bike. Thanks!

Fahg Mini is too small. The M18 would work well, especially if you turn the handlebars to the side, thereby narrowing the gap between the wheel and the frame. £2,500.oo cover in the UK, for both versions of the M18.

Thanks, I'll go for the M18 then. Any particular secondary lock that pairs well considering the weight of the M18?
I'm skeptical about the alarm locks - it's bound to get nudged about a bit at uni, and it'd be awkward leaving lectures to turn the alarm off...

Check out the Secondary Locks thread. It will be up to you based on budget etc etc etc....

If anyone is looking for the 16mm Brute at the moment, Amazon has a couple left at £24

^ I cant remember if i mentioned this but i own a brute std, the exact same in the above link, I hated all the yellow stuff so decided to take it off, all it is is plastic. This however did show up a weakness that proffesional bike thieves might be able to compromise, pm me and i'll let you know, I dont know whether to post it publicly as i have heard the thieves do occasionally read these threads.

sirbikealot, why not email Onguard with your findings? Tell them you will give them a fortnight to respond to you, before you publish the info onto this thread. It gives them time to investigate it, and come back to you. Then you decide if they are doing enough to remedy the matter. Fair?

sounds like an idea, will do it when i get some time :)

Actually.......if memory serves me correctly, I think a representative of OnGuard is actually on this forum, and has taken part in this thread. I shall have to trawl through this thread and see if I can find his post - he's from the distributor I think.
EDIT: I can't find the guy from the OnGuard distributor. If he makes an appearance, hopefully the problem with the new locks can be put to him.

Anybody ever buy/try the Asakiltt Shackle Lock or GRP Superdeals U-Lock?
-
• #2193
GA2G famously owns the GRP lock, keeps going on about it :)
I purchased a mini-U from the same brand to give to a friend. Seem strong but the smaller one was very rattly and you only get two keys, which is about 3 keys less than I am comfortable with.
-
• #2194
Did you get it from the same place - the shop in peckham? Methinks I might have to go hunting down that way...
-
• #2195
Nah got mine here in Birmingham. They can be found in very well stocked independent poundshop type places. Not many people would buy a hefty D lock here so not everyone stocks them, certainly not the big square shackle one, but I think all of these tat-shops selling similar stuff can order them in.

• #2196
Oh right, I'll have to stick my eye in some tat-shops then. I can see this being a repeatedly unrewarding quest...

Hmmm, looks out the window for the smoking trace of a pair of pants on fire.

Check back in this thread...... I don't mention it. It's in the list, and I've said it's the one I own. I've always recommended Krypto, Onguard and Abus from the list, above the one I have. I still have it, and it's never given me trouble. But I believe others are better.
parked overnight in the courtyard of a gated block of flats. The Abus was securing the frame and rear wheel to a proper bike park thing in the ground. Evo was locking the front wheel. They masked the CCTV and all I found in the morning was the Abus lock in a hedge, whole bike was gone. It looks like the locking mechanism was dismantled somehow rather than the steel cable being cut through. I've since discovered this lock is no longer recommended, so maybe there is a known weakness there. They probably did their research after scoping it out for a while. The Evo was never found so I don't know how they broke it.
