  • when was this bought?

  • late 2010 by the sounds of it?

  • late 2010 is the model name, could have been bought any time after thatw

  • had a look at my receipt, says 28 Nov 2010. bought from apple store regent street

  • I'll offer £250.

  • I'll offer £250.

not sure if this is a serious offer, but no thanks.

  • I just got a resale value of even less on that site, think it's a bit low...

  • Haha, that site....

This is worth waaay more than £200! OP price sounds reasonable.

  • It's a tricky one, Mac2Sell is a reputable site, although of course opinions vary as to the pricing it provides.

I would think that it'll assume that a three year old MBA will have long passed the 1,000 recharge cycle design life of it's non-user-replaceable battery- hence the (perceived) low price, for example.

They do seem to go for around the £440 mark on eBay, albeit that the only completed listings a quick search turned up were for eBay shops offering some warranty, so you may well get that price for it.

However it's an evolving market, and the latest MBA was released what, 30 days ago and is £849 brand spanking, full warranty etc.

If you can get over 50% of the cost of a significantly faster new machine for one that is three years old then that's testament to the market value of Apple I guess.

  • Thanks all for your opinions, a quick few things:

    1. Just checked charge cycle, its on 986 (prob not too bad given it is 30 odd months old?). As a last resort you can get it replaced in apple store for £99 or prob for less from third parties, but Im sure this will last a couple more years before you need to do that.

    2. Prices on ebay around £500 mark last time I checked, and this does also come with four and a half month's applecare.

    3. Sure the new MBAs have been released, but in terms of CPU speed the new models are on a par with the 2012 model, and to be honest I dont think you will notice the lack of CPU speed unless your'e doing some helfy editing, which I doubt on MBAs. In terms of overall speed thanks to the SSD I have never thought of this as a "slow" machine.

    4. If you need a newest models with the latest CPU whatever, then this is not for you. But as a simple, slim, mobile daily driver this will do just fine.

    5. For £200, I'll rather keep this instead.

    Thanks.

  • fot battery, just use coconut battery and post a screenshot here, thats what I did when I sold my mac here

  • ^^Fair points except no.3 C2D is a lot slower than an i3 or i5 and the new Haswells are another large improvement.

Still, lovely little computer, for a fair price... SSD's are amazing.

    Good luck with sale.

  • Yeah no I didn't mean that the core 2 duos fare against the i5s, I meant that unless you're doing heavy processing you probably won't be utilising that improvement a whole lot.
    Thanks for your positive comments.

As for the battery I will aim to upload it later tonight.

  • Here is the screenshot of the coconut battery.
