If you can get someone to take any pictures of skid marks (on road...sorry...;D...) then get them to go now...you'd be amazed at how quick rubber disappears from the road...especially busy ones like the island he t boned you at...new van..? can you remember the number? any thing on the side...? normal or hi top?

Err. White vcn. New one like a VW transporter or summat. Had writing on the side but I doin't know what. Van huit bike, I came off into van. Van drove off. Stopped further down the road then drove off fully.
Grazed elbows and a broken helmet (fnarr). Maybe a slight concussion so apologies for any poor spelling.
A passing St Johns ambulance driver stopped and I got his details. Just been seen by an ambulance and now waiting for police to call back.
Hoping I can get the bike patched up and a new helmet before the dun run.

Jon's missus here. Any idea how we can get info on any CCTV that may have been in operation at the time?
-

I second writing everything down. Take photos, lots of! Bike, you, location (showing exact place, lead to it and lead out). If possible get a written account from the St John's driver. Hope you're ok.

Can you describe which bit of E&C roundabout? I work in a building on the roundabout that has full perimeter CCTV that might capture bits of it. Long shot but worth me having a go...

So relieved to read this by you rather than about you.The police SHOULD have links to all the CCTV in the area - let's hope they can help. Obviously be as specific as possible.
All the best,
MM

Aww cheers mate. Police just left. Not massively helpful tbh. They say it all hinges on whether they can get CCTV of the incident. Not massively hopeful.

Hmmm, I would see what they come up with before approaching the council and surrounding buildings. Unfortunately though, because you fortunately lived to tell the tale, they're probably not going to invest as much time in catching this driver as they would if you had been more seriously injured. Will you keep us posted on progress?
Don't let this one idiot driver stop you doing the DunRun!

2013-07-14 - Rider Down. 142 Old Street (London)
Me :( Riding past LMNH towards the roundabout. I'm in the left lane doing about 20mph same as the rest of the traffic. Guy hails a taxi on my left. Cab infront of me driving between the two lanes suddenly swerves left and stops, indicating as he turns (still unsure about the indicating, pending CCTV). I make a split second decision between going into incoming traffic, smashing into him or slamming my brakes full on and going over the bars. I choose the third option. Next thing I know my face is up against the tarmac (quite an effective stopping device). I don't lose conciousness but it does take me a second to realise what happened.
He kept apologising, offered to drop me off to hospital. At one point he had a handful of cash in his hand while I was busy getting witness details. But he quickly put it away once the ambulance got there. All in all I went to A&E, just a few manly yet inconvenient bruises, nothing that will stop me riding home tonight. But my face didn't take too well to being used as a braking surface. I had them x-ray my wrist just in case but it's fine.
More importantly did anyone see this? did I go down in style?

They really are very keen to get those fares aren't they.

He really started pissing me off when he pretended to take pity on me. Then trying to talk me out of calling the ambulance. Come to think of it I was too calm. Didn't even call him a cunt! Bad show!
