A fair bit of bargain hunting, but the bike was frame and stem came from people on here, and the wheels were the result of about 2 months wait for the right thing to come up on eBay...
The pedals were sitting in my parts bin and I have a set of training wheels that came on the bike originally, just debating how to insure it now....

2.31:40
Managed the swim in a blistering (for me) 28 minutes but my bike was shite at 1.14 and run was below par at 47...
Time to train harder!
I think the issue is speed on the flat, as I caught people on the hills that overtook me on the flat....
And maybe freewheeling down the long downhill was a bit lazy but I was doing 60km/h so I felt as though it was a bit pointless!

Sorry, cross post from swimming thread:
Wetsuit advice please.
Preferably as close to Oxford as possible but if I need to travel a bit to avoid having to swim in a shit wetsuit then I will.
Not sure a London based fixed gear bike forum is the best place to ask for where to buy a wetsuit in oxford... but your best best is shepperton lake where you can try before you buy from Sigma

Hi, I'm selling my Orca S2 ladies wetsuit. Size large. Worn twice. £100. Pickup South London. I won't need it back in Oz where the water is tepid! Let me know if anyone is interested.

My wife is racing a triathlon on Sunday and I've just realised that her aero bars won't fit her new bike as it has oversized bars. If anyone has a pair that do fit OS bars that they are looking to offload then please let me know. I'm based SW but could collect anywhere centralish. Any help greatly appreciated :)

If she hasn't ridden with aero bars before she shouldn't put them on just for a tri, they'll almost certainly do more harm than good, if its on a road bike unless the position is adapted to suit the position they can put a lot of strain on the lower back...
3/4 distance olympic team triathlon tomorrow at dorney, looking forward to it apart from the fact that at the moment the water is too hot for wetsuits!

Water was "magically" 21.8 so wetsuits were optional, came out of the water 9th and my two team mates were ready and waiting for me, so had a super quick t1, then on to the bike where one team mate was very weak which was a shame, then got to the end of the run to discover it was shorter than planned, had plenty in the tank but still finished 1.39, in 9th place overall and the second team in the club so I won a bottle of wine and a packet of inner tube patches!
Really well run, with coco water at the end and a huge amount of free food from Lidl at the end, bbq and all :)

Dorney evening sprint tri tonight, expensive weeknight fun but no more than a few rounds of beers.
Not sure how to pace the swim, think I'm going to have to go all out if I want to get into the top 10 looking at the times from last months event, and then trust my bike and run fitness/speed will hold despite being dead after the swim!

Not sure how to pace the swim
The only pace is suicide pace, and today looks like a good day to die.

Is anyone doing the Cotswold Classic on the 11th Aug? I may have a space in the car. You will have to like Queen's greatest hits and not be too easily frightened by my terrible driving.

Ha, I did that in my duathlon on friday ran the first km in 3 minutes and blew people who are much faster than me on the bike away on the first run to the extent only one person caught me!
Unfortunately my suicide pace in a swim is not fast enough to have that effect, but I'll give it a crack.

Swim 13.40
T1 29 seconds
Bike 31.46
T2 30 seconds
Run 21.12
Total 1.07.40Spent the first half of the run dry heaving and only settled after 2.5k, so need to work on my swim big time but pretty happy with the other two bits.

I know noone is replying but maybe if I keep posting this thread will come to life...
A good weekend of training, 3.2k of swimming in bray lake, followed by 21miles running yesterday.
I find swimming laps of a lake really challenging as all I can think of when I'm half way round is getting out at the end of the lap, then once I force myself past the slipway I start enjoying it again! Run was good yesterday.

Did the London tri yesterday, pretty happy on beating last years time and doing the olympic in 2.11.54.
Swim 27.44
Bike 61.05 (road set-up)
run 37.3357th overall, pretty happy for my second tri

2:22:46 for me (28:28, 1:01:35, 46:32)
Swim as slow as expected, meh bike, and run pretty much as slow as expected.
With no specific training, I'm happy with the result.
It was fun riding the Embankment with no traffic, even if it was a sucky draft-fest. The run, however, was utterly uninspiring.
Time to start training for a middle distance in 8 weeks.

Good times!
The sub 2:30 group swim was brutal, got physically pushed under a couple of times. I do love the that cycle but the wind was less then favourable yesterday. The run was far better then last year, still shit mind.

The swim was a bit bumpy, wasn't it - my brother said he was still being thumped coming out of the water. I just stayed on people's feet (I was being lazy, and could probably have taken at least 1 minute off my time) and enjoyed the ride. Being happy breathing both sides means that I'm ok with swimming up along side people though.
But there were some proper arseholes there - at the first marker buoy, I saw someone purposefully ducking another competitor. I called him out, but that's about all you can do.
Apart from the odd bit of inexperience on the bike leg, most people were pretty well behaved. The lanes were frustrating in traffic where they narrowed though.

Jamie 6th over all, what a beast.

Yeah, points where it thinned to only 2 abreast was annoying, but overall was good fun!
