What makes the clamp design annoying? Also, is it just the photo or is only a small amount of the dropouts useable?

Just the photo, dropouts are regular length track dropouts, wheel is towards the back of them though.

The clamp is a twin bolt, but the front bolt is inside the seatpost...

... it's possible to get in there to adjust it with a tiny spanner, but very awkward. Found it easier just to remove the saddle, adjust the nut by half a turn, and refit saddle. Bit of trial and error, but adjusted it again yesterday and saddle is now just about level.
