tried old bb first actually and i think by trying to re-fit it has damaged the threads. You can see the threads have been freshly worn off, worth getting it chased to see if it works? Ill try getting a pic up
basically the first 5 threads are nearly totally gone

Could just be that some grit or paint or something got in the threads and jammed it up.
When you say the threads are freshly worn off do you mean on the bb cup? These are usually alloy and will get screwed up while the frame remains good. Could try cleaning the threads (I use a soft wire or plastic brush attachment on a Dremel type tool) or just go get them chased. Most (half decent) bike shops should be able to chase bb threads for you, facing and doing anything more than chasing though and you need to look for somewhere with a good workshop.

Does anyone know where I could get my bottom bracket cut and shut in London or if there is anyone who would be able to flow braze over the threads and retap? Thanks!

Facing is removing crap/burs/rust from thread
Taping (or re-taping) is cutting thread where there are none/missing/damaged
Just to clarify, even though it was years ago:
Chasing is removing of crap/burs/rust from an existing thread.
Tapping is cutting a new thread or reforming a damaged existing thread.
Facing is making two faces parallel.
Reaming is the precise enlargement of an existing hole.
I can't remember exactly the price. Was a couple of years ago now. Ted will quote you a good competitive price and he has all the professional tools to get the job done. He is a reknowned London frame builder and can tackle most frame related jobs.
I am wondering if your issue is a different threading on the new BB cup ? Have you tried re inserting the old bb cup to check it is the thread rather than the cup that is causing the problems. ? If it is tight sometimes just running the BB tool through the threads can clear them of any junk out of the grooves.
Italian BB vs JIS / UK bottom bracket ?
