  • This is my sons school project almost complete, however needing advice with: hoods for Record levers, thinking about Dia Comp gum hoods as they are only £8 (not £50) cloth bar wrap, black? colour and brand of brake housing (non logo) and tubs have to be gum wall, Vittoria Rally?
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • I made a Baking Soda Volcano for a school project.
This is much better. What subject is this for?
Or have I got this wrong? Is it for him to ride to school?
    Looking great BTW.

  • Yes this is part of a school project on cycle races in the good old days, mainly the Paris Roubaix (Steiner schools aren’t keen on GCSE’s and would really prefer he whittled something out of moss incorporating crepe soles) anyway the trip to the race was good (see below few more on flickr), just getting him to scribe it is the problem now.

  • Dia Compe should be fine, they fit Modolo Professionals perfectly and Modolo are Campag copies. Nowt wrong with Rallies, unless you actually want to race, they're not superlight!

  • Ok cheers will go for the Dia Comp hoods and as far as I can see the V Rally tubs look good and won't break the bank. Also he will need a 6 speed chain for the nuovo record, any suggestions?

  • Any 6/7/8 speed chain will do, bronze for a period look, just paid a tenner for mine which is going on a very expensive bike.... Ps: I'd go with Benotto tape and standard white cable outers, but I am no great arbiter of taste!

  • Looks lovely, long way to those hoods though.
