• It's quite possible that the modulation may not be as great as you would expect from the old campagnolo brakes.

They're Deltas though - not sure he's expecting much.

  • Although they look super sweet

  • La perfection, ca n'existe pas...

(but they do look super sweet)

  • Fuck modulation and all brake related issues in general.......oh, but it's pretty.

Except the stem. But everything else is pretty

  • boo everyone and your stem bigotry.

What's the suggestion then? Silver Thomson with ahead converter?

  • Least it's not short.

  • he he.

secret bikes are ace. thing is , if you love it , youll have to bring it home .

  • stem: cinelli frog or itm big one, both in gloss black

I think this white frame would carry black components very well

    #notaracist

  • the Cinelli frog's different... can't decide if I like it though.

Saw this on Planet-X though and thought it looks pretty smart:

    http://www.planet-x-bikes.co.uk/i/q/STDEZA/deda_elementi_zero_vintage_ahead_road_stem_nos

  • ugh, that'll require an ahead converter, shitter than a shitty stick dipped in shit at both ends

    perhaps a classic cinelli 2a

  • Stem bigotry aside, I'd though I'd get out on Ola over the weekend but alas when I got my cassette and chain sorted, the fucking left shifter was fubared (bought on here too... :( harrumph )and wouldn't well, shift.

So muggins has spent all last night and bits of today in between watching the tour taking apart, cleaning, and eventually after much hardship, rebuilding said ergo.

Seems to work better now but still sticks. Can't afford a single penny more on this build so it will have to do for now... Also stripped the Deltas off in a pique of rage because they are just not going to cut it.

Centaur skeletons on... going to calibrate gears now and hopefully this will be it fit for maiden riding this eve or tomorrow depending how it goes.

  • if you want reasonably priced ergo parts > http://www.lfgss.com/post3684026-4.html

  • awesome-cheers much, think some new g springs and ratchets could be the order of the day...

  • Swapped out the cranks and mechs for centaur carbons, looks much better. Going to sell the c-rec gear to finish off the build I reckons.

  • She is a looker, and no mistake!

    ( bar the stem....)

  • jep, just to hope to push you over the edge; that stem is a semi flaccid fallus of a thing. get it off of this beauy!

  • Been out for a few rides, fallus stem and all... Have popped my Royce wheels on and swapped out the C-Rec seatpost for a more modern (and lighter) Chorus one.

Can safely say it is the stiffest steel frame I have ever ever ridden-feels like riding carbon-and very light/responsive. Do wish that the forks are ahead but can live with it I suppose... might go the ahead converter route if I can't find a suitable quill as I'm noticing my center of gravity is a bit higher than on the grubaix special.

All in all fucking nice bike to ride... feeling as spoilt as I am skint tbh.

  • .

  • Based on the older picture the modern carbon cranks are not sitting well with the older threaded stem (and seatpost). Need update images

  • just bought a Ti seatpost and have new crabon bars/stem... just sad that Ola is 500 miles away ;(

  • How was the Veloce shifters? I'm sorely tempted to get them as a cheap touring groupset.

  • the flat topped Ergopower ones are great, the newer curvy Powershift ones are so much shitter, ugly shape and feel cheap. Can't really fault the cranks/gears either-easy to run and cheap to replace, I've changed the bearings a couple of times on the cranks (another reason to stay away from powershift as you need a proprietary BB and bearing tool). Pretty win all around tbh.

  • I'm debating on whether to drop the cash on the Ergopower Chorus as they're pretty cheap nowadays.
