  • Fuck me, first intermediate session was hard! Defo need to train moar and drink less ;)

  • I had a really decent basics today, too.

The coach who leads that session (Graham is it?) is a really patient, positive influence out there. Amazing, actually. Without wishing to ignore the work they do, for which I'm very grateful, some of the other volunteers there could do with taking themselves a but less seriously.

  • Have a friend down who wants to do the induction today, any idea what time we would have to get there for to get a place? Is it still absolutely packed like the end of last year? Will it rain? Am I asking too many questions at once?

  • anything between 12 to 12:15 is ideal to make sure you get a place. Yes it gets packed, I think the upper limit is 50 riders. It doesent look like it will rain but for updates follow them on twitter and/or ask people who live near velodrome ;)

  • Lovely stuff, cheers amey! Haven't been to the track in a while, had my card stamped up to intermediates but some wanker nicked my wallet a few weeks ago...

Amazing the lengths people will go to in order to get into the intermediate training!

He then used my card to buy a 53 tooth chainring, I think he needed a few more gear inches as well

  • The roads are a bit humid in Brixton this morning but no rain.

We should be all good if the weather holds.

  • Hope its still dry there. Just leaving from Kent to make basic training. New on the forum so Hi :)

  • I was really expecting it to be rained off, so very glad the weather held, despite the wind. Another good intermediates. Hopefully next week my legs will be back.

  • First inters today and the pace was a big step up from basics, pretty tough in the wind but a good session

  • How many ladies turn up to the basics? Thinking of switching from the Sunday women's session to the Saturday. Just wondered how the pace is?

  • Maybe 10% of riders. I think there were three yesterday.

I don't think you would have a problem with the pace especially if you have done a couple of the women's sessions.

Thanks! Think I'll come along an try, the Sunday session is often cancelled so I'm hoping to get on the track a bit more.

  • Can I "hire" a helmet on an induction session ?!

  • Yes, just go over to the bike sheds and ask for own when you collect your bike.

  • Who's the guy on Saturday who rides the yellow Fort? Jez you made it hard today

  • Alwyn Mcmath, he did Commonwealth Games and World cup between 1996-2002 and raced in the same team as Chris Hoy.
On saturday he raced the open meeting in the afternoon.

  • Nice. On that note, who is the guy always in the Fox black/white jersey who is not averse to turning the screw?

  • that sounds like Tom..I have already "recruited" him for the HH Team champs at the end of the month...)

  • That explain alot, Fabio did you ride the open event in the afternoon? How'd you go?

    total beast. Nice guy too.

  • Looks like he got some silver and bronze at the Nationals in the early 2000s, and I see Dom Hill's name up there as well. We're in pretty good company on Wednesday nights and at Opens.

  • In some circles, he is known simply as "THE THIGH"
