Has Kinjah sen it now that it's done?Ta. Kinja is currently out of the country, I'm not sure when he returns. I'll ride the Pinarello at a time trial in early June, hopefully he'll be there....

^ Ta. This retrobike page has very many pictures of Stelvio frame:

If you're after the build details then I've no idea! I know mine had Shimano 600 (8spd, STIs) to begin with, so that's what I rebuilt with.
This one here has Ultegra 9 speed so is slightly more recent. Flashier paintwork than the earlier solid-colour models.

Saw Kinja riding on telly for the Commonwealth Games and thought about this thread! Any recent updates on the bike?

I have a question about your Pinarello since i bought a Stelvio frame and am a bit confused with BB sizing..... if you're still here :)

They were Italian threaded so 70 mm wide shell and 36mm x 24 tpi threading.
(I owned a Stelvio back in the 1990s/early 2000s).

Do you know about the tyre clearance? Can i use the 28 with it? And thank you for a super fast answer!
-
• #91
The tyre clearance at the rear was really tight, I think you'd struggle to get a 28 mm tyre in, but it's worth a go.

Thank you so much!

So this thread is long dead now maybe, but I have just found this and read through it. It was so well written by @Ndeipi that there was a lot of interest. I'm happy to share that it the bike is still going strong here in Nairobi and has been on quite the journey.... I could revive this if there was interest in the bike, its history, and how its tackling the roads of Kenya in 2021.
I took custody of the beauty in 2013 and here's a teaser for its first update back in 2107:

Well this is brilliant. I love opening a random thread and finding a story like this. The 8 year old photos are even still working as well!

Ah brilliant, still a deservedly high amount of love for this bike. It's running seriously well and I've geeked out massively on the specs.
@Ndeipi yes still riding here on the roads of Kenya, and the lyrca type scene is growing every week. Covid stalled the growth (and everything else in the world) a bit but otherwise great. More roads up and down more hills than when you were here. Commuting is also much less lonely, with actual other riders getting to work faster for free !!!
Ta, and yes thanks for the gear! I think there's still a Condor seat post waiting for you in the UK. Just keep it, it'll be nice to go home to. I think Ill be using two-bolt posts from now on, for ease of adjustment.
I have about seven spare 700c tubes! Most have been patched around twice. But yes, they are indeed in short supply. I could probably buy them for £15/each at the bike shop on the other side of town if desperate. And tyres I took from my tourer which I got shipped over around Christmas, after putting GP4Seasons on it. No flats on the Pinarello yet, but plenty of obliging glass shards around...
Cheers guys. Such a shame that I'll need to sell it in 3 months time when I return to the UK. Actually, are you interested Sandbag? (I can replace the smaller 1A stem).
