• tbh it's not so much the toe that's the problem but the shoulder - it's debilitatingly painful. I am trying to Man Up by reading the list of broken bones suffered by various riders in le Tour and comparing them to my sore muscle, but all it's really doing is indicating to me that i haven't got what it takes to ride in le Tour. Facepalm.

Maybe work up to a 3 week long race by riding your bike for just one day on sunday?

I was a bit worried about my fitness for this ride but having looked at the route and the number of trains stations nearby, fuck it, let's see how it goes. My nerves will not beat me

Great attitude. Tbh, we'll probably be stopping every 15 miles or so for water/snack stops with the warmth and if you break it down into 4 manageable chunks, simples! The hardest/most horrible bit is getting out of London, so once chunk one is done...!
