  • Bready, can you check if it got subtitles?

  • it does I'm playing with them turned on as emma likes to make lots of noise when i'm on the computer and i miss half the plot otherwise.

  • Dude, read what you've just wrote...

  • the last of us. best game intro ever?

Also the best game I have ever played. Ever.

  • Rome 2 is slightly discounted as a preorder on steam atm.

Worth getting? I'm not sure how 'hardcore' it is, as I'm not usually very patient when it comes to stategerisementing.

Just came to post that GMG sale. Screaming deal for anyone who doesn't have the game yet.

  • GT6 demo is available on PSN

Bollocks to being stuck in work for another six hours.

  • I'm going to give PlanetSide 2 a go

  • got a couple of hours in on the last of us last night.

i think they've really nailed the pacing of the game well. everywhere you go feels like you are dragging yourself along through sheer grit and determination, everything is scarce, you're afraid to stray too far from the path to scavenge for supplies and sometimes you have no choice but to stop and patiently wait for an opportunity to present itself.

and for those who are also playing it/have played it, looking for that keycard was the most stressful thing to happen to me in a game in ages. after about 4 goes i realised it's easier to look for it first then do the other thing. was just sprinting around going 'fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck' before that trying to pick up any shiny thing i could find. good times.

not particularly useful for this game but if anyone wants to add me on psn my id is also hatbeard on there.

  • Ive not put anywhere near enough time into TLoU.
ParryWifes out Saturday night, so I see a pizza, beer and playsatan fest ahead for me!

  • I'm going to give PlanetSide 2 a go

scrap this, i'm going to replay portal instead.

  • I'm still loving Borderlands 2 ... running around with a friend in true vault hunter mode last night.

Going to lose a lot of hours to this game :S

  • battlefield 3 free for plussers this month.
    DLing now.

  • Right, I've done a bit of googling, but can't find any info on the net. This is probably too niche of a 'problem'... but here goes:

Does anyone know if there's any way of me purchasing a game on steam (either on my PC at home, or my mac at work) - lets say it's a PC game, and downloading the PC steam files to a drive (int or ext) to take home and pop on the PC.

My reason is that we have ridiculously good internet at work, but my home 'broadband' gets 200k down. Ugh.

If i set stuff off overnight, it usually takes about 2 days to do.

  • You can't download them directly, you'll need to install Steam (and the games) on your work PC.

Once that's done it's very straightforward to backup the files and copy them wherever you want.

  • You could easily install steam then copy then 'common files' folder over then paste in to the steam folder on your gaming folder titled common. Then right click on the game and verify game cache.

Do it all the time with friends when we're having lan nights let one person download hogging all the bandwidth then copy across the network on to everyone pc's.

  • Ner nah, work computer is a mac - so Ive got a feeling Im going to have to get virtualisation software or something to run windows here in order to do it.

    I think.

  • Right, apparently they're the same files on a PC or mac?

Just copy the relevant GCFs or NCFs and files in the common/ folder (select where applicable) from SteamApps\ on Windows to SteamApps/ on your Mac.

SteamApps is typically C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps in Windows, and is /Users//Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps in Mac OS X.

But, that still doesn't solve that I probably cant buy, say far cry 3 (PC only) to download on a mac, to take home to play on the PC. So, I think I either have to instal a VM with windows on my mac, and download at work, or suck it up and leave downloads on for 3 days straight at home.

    Pff.

  • Personally I'd just do it at home - run it at night and it'll go quicker.

  • Seems much less of a fuck on... whens this steam summer sale start then :)

  • was up til 4am playing tlou last night. would play up to the start of a big set piece, save it, then fucken thing kept kept luring me back in by automatically playing the dialogue leading into it so i'd carry on for just a little bit then bang another hour gone by.

think i'm right near the end now, so many excellent moments so far. ellie is actually a badass.

  • Finished it last night. So good, some truly moving moments.

Now, new game plus or survivor Mode?

  • I'm running late with Last of Us, but I just got given a copy by Sony. Looking forward to playing it this weekend :)
